I've done a few recoveries like these and regardless of age or condition it's a write off so in essence a sale in this case was completed if it was insured

No wonder RVers have a bad driving reputation and make people laugh at us with these pictures.
I've launched my boat probably 50 times or more with a motorhome and never had a problem, and do it faster than most do with their pick ups. The long rear overhang on a MH is an advantage because often you don't have to even get the rear wheels in the water. But if you're incompetent, don't launch a boat with any vehicle

Certainly don't back the wheels of the end of the ramp.

I agree with one of the comments under the picture, It appears the rig was driven into the river cab first. Can't launch a boat that way.

Or just maybe the loading ramp in question was on the side of the inlet (in front of the MH) where the picture was taken from?

I've heard of people mounting hitches on the front bumper too...they say it makes it easier to launch...I wouldn't think so. I've launched boats hundreds of times with a truck, and wouldn't mind using a motor home to do it. But I'd still back it in.

You also see lots of folks losing their cars, trucks and vans into the water launching boats.

I used my old class C to launch my Hobie 16 countless times, Hardly got the rear wheels wet. When it goes south it goes south fast!

When reading the article, they were attempting to launch a boat into a river. A river generally has a current in some direction and in the article, one person stated that they have never seen a motor-home floating down a river.

I believe that the article and photo are real. However, I don't intend on trying to launch any boat with my HOME. That's what trucks are for.

Yep. Sure can.

I have a buddy whose old motorhome was rigged up with a hitch in front. He launched a fishing boat many times by pushing it in the water from the front. It was a small boat and trailer so there was no need to push it in too far.

Whenever me and the wife wanted a few laughs, we would just grab some camp chairs and head down to the local boat ramp. It's great way to spend a Sat. evening when the intoxicated boat owners try to get their "toys" back on dry land.
