Man-shoots-himself-effort-dislodge-squirrel-from-his-pants

This was in the Salem, Oregon News yesterday. You just can't make stuff like this up. I think the gene pool needs a big dose of bleach.

MONROE — The thing to do if a squirrel runs up your leg is probably not to aim a .22-caliber rifle at it.

A Benton County sheriff's officer says a 36-year-old Monroe man told deputies he was startled by a squirrel that ran up his left leg so he fired at it but hit his foot instead.

Sheriff's Capt. Greg Ridler tells the Corvallis Gazette-Times that deputies contacted Ethan Bennett at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and learned the story of the gunshot wound.

Ridler said Bennett did not kill the squirrel.

Bennett was treated and released.

He declined to comment about the Nov. 23 incident.

Monroe is a small Willamette Valley community south of Corvallis

What an idiot. I watched the video. He missed his first target at extremely close range with a shotgun. Not sure he is ready to own a gun yet to start with. Then he has the hang-fire, pumps the weapon, shell fails to eject (now it's a jam and a hang-fire), tires once again to fire the weapon. Too may mistakes here. It does prove that God looks out for the fools.

OK, have you ever read the title of a thread and said out loud "What in the Hell"?

Then after reading the story have a vision of hearing a gunshot, turning around to see a guy hopping around holding his foot while a runaway squirrel is running amok in his pants?

I just did and now my ribs hurt!

I wonder if there was any "adult beverages" involved.
