I too would like to say thanks for the post. I and the wife need dental work and have no insurance. Will probably winter this year in Quartzsite so a few trips to Yuma would be worth it to save that amount of money.

You have really good dental insurance! Mine has a cap of $1250/ year. That equates to 2 cleanings, a few X-rays and maybe a small filling or two.

We are entering the full timer lifestyle this year and Dental is a huge expense that we want to manage. My current Dental Insurance provider Principle Life has a list of Preferred providers in Algodones. Anyone with Principle insurance would weigh in with their experiences would be appreciated.

To cross into Los Algodones you are in California when you leave Yuma. If you leave Sena at the Rv park in Yuma you will be ok.

Because of the heat we will have to stay in an RV park. Sena and Lily will stay behind and I'll drive the toad and park it on the US side and walk across the border. The new knees are coming in quite handy.

Glad to hear the new knees are making life better. Enjoy Yuma and the cross border trip. It will be warm.

No problem seen by me last winter with over 10 crossings.

Yep. The Mexican army and a lot of security folks are making sure that the revenue and the folks bringing it to Algodones are totally safe. No worries but where to have a grand but low priced lunch.

I paid $3600 in Algodones. It took 3 days. In PA it would have been about $25,000 and taken months. Dont sweat the insurance part. Enjoy the quality work they do.

Wow...what amazing information! I knew my father-in-law (who is a dual citizen with Mexico) had crowns done years ago over there, but I had no idea how sophisticated it had all become! I will keep this all in mind!!

Dental Bernal in Los Algodones. Implants, crowns, root canal, extractions, sinus boost in four trips.

You can drive to and stay in Yuma, Arizona but you need to drive a few miles into California to get to the Los Algodones border. I suggest a taxi from Yuma. All the drivers know how to drive the (12?) miles to the border and they have mobile phones so you can call them to come get you when you're done.

Update

I went to Dr Abdul Iniguéz in Los Algondones, just south of Yuma, AZ. I had 16 porcelain over metal crowns, 12 porcelain jackets and a root canal with fiberglass post. Total cost $5810. I went for the initial consultation on Friday, root canal by a specialist on Sat, teeth prepped and temporaries were placed on Monday and Tuesday and then the new crowns were placed on that Friday. Eight days, start to finish. And they accepted my personal check drawn on my US Credit Union.

My new smile is beautiful and my TMJ pain is gone. There is artistry to the way the crowns were made so they don't look like dentures. My slightly rotated cuspid was duplicated and the crowns are shaded slightly to look like real teeth, not white pegs. I've gotten compliments from the friends who knew I was going and no comment by those who didn't. My point is the look so real! I am SO glad I went.

Today I drove a friend to her dentist in Centralia, WA. A tooth that had a root canal and crown 7 years ago fractured and had to be extracted. She was charged $250 for the extraction and $250 for a bovine bone implant in preparation for an implant in 3 months. When she's done she will have spent more on that one tooth than I did on 28.
