Hello Everyone:

It is almost time to replace the Tires on the Motorhome (Time is Running Out on them). I looked at the Michelin X1 tires Michelin Americas Truck Tires X One® Tires Page while at the WMHA Indio Rally and I am interested in converting over to them. Has anyone installed the X1 tire on their Motorhome and what to you think of them? I am hoping that I can get some information before I make the jump to the new tires.

The things I like about them are less Rolling Resistance, better mileage, 200 lbs less weight. Because of the less unsprung weight the tire are easier on the brakes and suspension. The cost for Michelins X1 will be the same as 4 Michelins because the Tire dealer will buy my old tires and wheels.

What are your thoughts?

Dave, I've had mine on since 7/08. They have about 16,000 trouble free miles on them. They've been from Pensacola to the Carolinas, Tennessee, Kentucky and as far west as Seattle by way of Branson, Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone. From Seattle they've been to the Oregon coast, down through northern California to Reno then east to Denver, Dodge, Oklahoma City, Dallas/Ft Worth, Houston and back to Pensacola. I won't go back to duals.

I only have one concern, what if several years down the road you have a
rear blowout on one of these monsters? Rear blowouts are more difficult to control than front! BTW my chassis was designed from the beginning with only two rear wheels (425/65-22.5) so I watch my Michelin XFE's like
a hawk.

I want to thank you for the links and info regarding the Michelin X1 tires. I am leaning towards them purchase and if I do purchase them I will post my thoughts about the ride, handling and performance of the tires.

I am not too worried about the blow out; I know they do happen fortunately not too often. My feelings about a flat on the rear with duals just like if it were in the front, to pull over on the right and stop in a safe area not to try and limp into the next city and hope the one tire will hold.
