More security breaches ..

Just in case anyone did not see this yet:
Security Breach Hits More Prominent U.S. Retailers, Report Says

I think we all need to keep an eye on all the cards we might have used or might use. Remember most of this happened while the card was NOT out of the persons hands. Most of these latest ones happened at the swipe things at the register. I just had a feeling that more Target got targeted. It just did not make sense to me that only one got hit when most use the same stuff to swipe cards.

Excellent reminder.

At restaurants, if the server doesn't have one of those on-their-person card scanners & I don't take the receipt myself to a register to pay, I've been asking to be placed at a table within eye-shot of their server station so I can keep watch to be sure the server I hand my card to is the one swiping it. That still might not be enough if the server is bound & determined to take my info, but it serves as notice I'm being watchful of what they're doing when they take my card.

One of the things I do not understand.. After Edward Snowden told everybody what I've known for over 10 years (About the PRISIM system) it seems that these hackers who manage to break in.....

Well if PRISIM is as good as they claim it is.. Should be simple to track 'em back and show them to their new residence.

So why are they not doing just that. .. I mean they are cyberterrorists and should enjoy the fruits of their labor.. Like 20 to life in a place which can enforce the NO ACCESS TO COMPUTER part of their sentence.

They've narrowed it down to where they are at but kinda hard to track in another country especially since Snowden cause now people don't want things tracked .... well they didn't until something like this happens. And for those that might want to go to the Olympics just be aware that everything will be hacked and tracked, the Russian government does more tracking and will do even more tracking and hacking, it's been all over the news with them saying "Yes we keep a copy of all phone calls, texts, etc and will do that with all residents and guests"

For a little perspective, this site gives an interactive graphic of all breaches back to 2004.

I have one credit card with a 4000 limit. I would get a smaller limit if they would let me. I pay the balance off almost every month. Thanks for the heads up.

Can someone please explain to me how the following happens? I used my debit card at Target during the Black Friday period. The next day after it was on the news about it, I promptly canceled my card and had a new one reissued. Yesterday, I got an email from Target stating that my information was among the compromised data and that my name, address, telephone, and email could have been disclosed.

So here's what I don't get: (1) Where did Target get my email address from in order to notify me? (2) How would the hackers have accessed that information(which I didn't provide TO Target) from Target? Please note, the only time I've EVER given that info to Target was 5-6 years ago when I purchased something online from them.

Just remember that it was not just Target that got hit, 4 other stores got hit at the same time. Also remember that the card's NEVER left the customer's hands at any of the stores that got hit. They were all swiped at the register by the person themselves.

As for how they got the information, you just said how they got it "Please note, the only time I've EVER given that info to Target was 5-6 years ago when I purchased something online from them". As for how the ones that did the hacking they got the information, you know that little black magnetic strip on the back? Lots of information is in that strip about you and your accounts.

I'm sure that there are "back doors" in a lot of software that the hackers have discovered and used. In some cases the businesses have not changed standard passwords which create the openings. These idiots in management just don't seem to understand the necessity of changing passwords and closing back door security.
