Most Wonderful Place

As the year comes to an end and you look back on all of the wonderful places you camped this year, what is the one place (not counting family visits) that you would go back to next year and the next and the next?

This is a picture of mine, it is the Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura CA. We camped there five times this past year.

Camped there several times in the late 90s, Considering what they had there it was a surprisingly nice place to hang out.

Most Wonderful Place

Ricker, your picture of Emma Wood State Beach looks like a beautiful oil painting! Have to keep an eye out when we head to CA; thanks for sharing.

Our most wonderful place this year: Acadia NP

Anywhere on the Minas Basin, on the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia. The Atlantic provinces of Canada are special, but watching near 50 ft tides roll in and out every six hours is mesmerizing. The world record tide there is 73 ft. Nothing like seeing a fishing troller sitting happily at a dock, or at anchor, then six hours later it is 45 ft lower, and sitting in the mud. I just cant seem to get enough of it. I have been there four times in the last six or seven years, and cant wait to go back. We spent two months down east this summer, including three weeks in Newfoundland. I think it should be on every rvers bucket list.

Here’s a shot near St Andrews by the Sea New Brunswick just across the border from Calais Maine. This is only half way between tides.

Dry Tortugas off the Florida Keys. Beautiful turquoise water, coral beaches, barrier reef just feet from the beach... I only wish I could have stayed longer. Next time, I'll stay overnight and enjoy the beauty of the universe above me.

When I was planning our trip out west last year I was looking for places to stay between the big 5 parks in Utah and The Tetons. I saw Flaming Gorge recreation area and I felt like with a name like that it would be worth a look see. I was not disappointed. That picture was taken on the canyon rim about 50 yards from our campsite. This was a boondock site but one of the best of our travels.

Thanks to all to who have shared so far. We are starting to plan our four week trip for next August . I am hoping more will share as we are always looking for more places to camp.

One of our other favorite places is the Avenue of the Giants in Humbolt county. Our dogs really enjoy the Ell River.
