You are not alone----I guess the question to me is need----has he suffered real hardship as a result of the layoff; if so then claim what you need and move on to retirement where you will not need it any longer. Just to claim it because it is there----well I don't believe I would----I think that was the question-----ethical?----well it's evidently legal so suit yourself---would not appeal to me.

I found the timeline important - (Laidoff end of June vs Retirement July). I have not collected UE so I am not all that familiar with the program. I thought with UE job searching was required to help get the displaced employee back into employment & earning an income.

Glad to know that there are others, maybe not as many as we would like.

This thread has been interesting to follow regardless of one's viewpoint.
