Nascar doles out penalties for the 48 team
Chad Knaus and the car chief Ron Malec have been suspended for 6 weeks and Chad was fined $100,000. Jimmy Johnson has been penalized 25 drivers points and car owner Jeff Gordon has been penalized 25 points as well. Jimmy only earned two points Monday so that puts him way behind at -23 points. Doesn't pay to cheat, ya think??

Just to clarify, Gordon was docked 25 owner points, not driver points. Hendrick is appealing.
NASCAR docks Jimmie Johnson 25 points, suspends Chad Knaus

What's he have to do with building the car. All he does is drive it. What did he do to deserve more of a penalty?

Bob, thanks for clarifying. I meant to put in owner points for Jeff and didn't. I don't think it will do much good for Hendrick to appeal. It's a second offense for Chad and Nascar needs to get the message across to the other teams. I also agree Steve, Johnson is the driver and does not work on the car. I always found it unfair when they penalize the driver. But I guess it is further incentive for the crew chief to keep the car legal. I'm not a JJ fan but he's a good enough driver he can get back to the top without too much problem.

This wasn't what they had in mind when they said they were going for six. Was it?

Smokey Yunick wouldn't last long in today's NASCAR! He was also too innovative. I think he would laugh at the new rules and regulations, then go try to figure out how to get around them to make his "hot rod" go faster than the other teams.

I no longer watch. The racers have more rules than drivers and none make much sense. The cars are as far from "Stock" as they possibly can be so maybe they should change the name.
At one time the cars were street legal, now they all are identical but with different decals, kind of a cruel joke, ain't it?

That kind of sums up all professional sports............except............PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING!!!!
Thank god that is still real.
Oh, I forgot Roller Derby, that's real too, huh?
And I don't think stock cars were ever street legal, at the very least, the headlights were removed or covered.

I have been a long time NASCAR fan but they are about to lose me. They seem to make the rules up as they go along and some of the race finishes are starting to remind me of pro wrestling.
