I bought some of these for my fishing buddies. Not real practical and haven't tried to use it for fishing but only $5.99 at geeks.com .

Looks like a Ronco special. How far will it shoot the line. Probably not very far. Besides there is no "rod" to fight the fish. How many times will you be trowing under a cover to warrant such a gismo. I believe a hand line would be better than one of these gismos. For $60/70 bucks you can get a good combo rod/reel at any fishing store. Save your money IMHO. s/Toby

The fish pen rod and reel are surprisingly well made. I think they sold for $25 but are readily available on the net for 6 bucks.

It's meant to keep in the glove compartment, etc. Possibly to make a few casts if you have a water view at a restaurant.

I bought it for my buddies as a joke item for our annual fly in Canadian fishing trip.

Below is a photo of a walleye that succumbed to the Fish Pen.
