Neil Armstrong Has Passed Away

An American Icon has made is own, final giant leap. This hero is certainly a moment in history marker from many of us. A true hero that never cashed in on his fame. Brave and professional.

I'm feeling a big hole in my heart.

RIP Mr. Armstrong. Bravo Zulu!

A true explorer and pioneer, Armstrong will long be remembered for the 10 words that a human screamed to the Universe.

We are here and there is no looking back!

Rest in Peace.

They make no greater men.

Yes, a sad day indeed. While our hearts are saddened, the constellations will shine a little brighter with his presence tonight.
A great man and pioneeer.

Yes a quiet hero. Many years ago wife and I had the pleasure of attending a conference were he spoke. Until then did not realize he did not usually make public appearances. In fact the NASA folks were there video taping his interview by by the host. It was both enlightening and inspirational.

Thank you Neil... RIP

When we speak of generational and historical heroes, IMO, there's Neil... and then we're hard pressed to name any peers. He defined bravery during the mission and class after the mission.

I still struggle to comprehend how those guys did what they did... in 1969!

I remember Walter shedding a tear the moment they landed. Now they will once again be able to visit and remember when man first walked on the moon.

Wink at the Moon Tonight.

Neil Armstrong Dies: His Family Speaks Out About His Passing - Speakeasy - WSJ

From his family...

The following is a statement from the Armstrong family regarding the death of former test pilot and NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong. He was 82.

“We are heartbroken to share the news that Neil Armstrong has passed away following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures.

Neil was our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Neil Armstrong was also a reluctant American hero who always believed he was just doing his job. He served his Nation proudly, as a navy fighter pilot, test pilot, and astronaut. He also found success back home in his native Ohio in business and academia, and became a community leader in Cincinnati.

He remained an advocate of aviation and exploration throughout his life and never lost his boyhood wonder of these pursuits.

As much as Neil cherished his privacy, he always appreciated the expressions of good will from people around the world and from all walks of life.

While we mourn the loss of a very good man, we also celebrate his remarkable life and hope that it serves as an example to young people around the world to work hard to make their dreams come true, to be willing to explore and push the limits, and to selflessly serve a cause greater than themselves.

For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.”

Sad news. He represented one of our country's finest eras. If you ever drive on I-75 in Ohio, the Neil Armstrong museum is worth a visit:

Some approporate music for this great man:

Pegasus Awards - Hope Eyrie Lyrics

http://www.tomsmithonline.com/freest...iT052a_128.mp3 Download mp3

http://www.tomsmithonline.com/freestuff/oddio/052a.m3u Or listen to it

The MP3 and listen links are Tom Smith, He often does comedy but he did this one straight, rather well I thought, though it's a bit more "Rock".

IF you can find a version by Leslie Fish.. SNAG it she's the author.

Last night I was in McMinnville and at 900 pm DW and I watched the space station fly by. A couple hours before I was at the aviation museum and was looking at the space display and thinking how much courage those astronauts had back in the day.....
