Am I correct that this "start-up" is not publicly held? It takes a lot of capital to start up a manufacturing business like this so I would have to assume this engineer has some pretty heavy backers down there in Shreveport. The concept is interesting and it does seem to have more character than some of the three wheeled predecessors.

Lessons Learned from Elio Motors and Pontiac, Michigan - KSLA News 12 Shreveport, Louisiana News Weather & Sports

I wonder where Paul Elio got his engineering degree.

84 MPG All Elio vehicles will come with A/C, power windows and locks, ABS and built-in stereo, and available with manual or automatic transmission.

All above for ONLY $6,800 falls into the. If it sounds to true.
And they don't even know what a dollar will be worth in July 2014.

YUP - precious FEW sales outlets, and even FEWER places for parts and service - an orphan from the start, and once it's yours, it's YOURS!

And then there are those "minor" issues of compliance with EPA emissions regulations and FMVSS crash-worthiness and lighting standards.

Can anyone say "YUGO"?

Or maybe "Isetta" would be more appropriate............

But it IS a motorcycle - are the same regs / emissions in place for a motorcycle ?

Let's see where this goes.... obviously nice to hear that SOMEONE is trying to create jobs rather than new taxes - er, ah, I mean, revenue !!!!!!

I didn't see any specs for towing capacity, perhaps a motorcycle trailer? Seriously, I agree with Johnboy, someone is looking at the glass half-full.

That's was my first impression too. I think it's going to be very interesting if they can bring it to market at their estimated price of $6,800. That's less expensive than many motorcycles and has a cabin/cockpit, choice of trans, power windows and more.

At that price I would consider one for around town usage. Not sure if I would get on the highway with it. I've seen Smart ForTwo's on the highway and there's no way I would travel the highway in one.

This would be a pretty cool vehicle to use instead of a golf cart though

It appears to be a great concept with today's economy , and a good value. If it is true:

Happy RVing, James

Ah, yes, the Reliant Robin. The subject of one of my favorite Top Gear episodes.

Rusty
I was thinking of that episode as I read through this thread. They just aired it again the other night. Good stuff!
