New email scam

I got an email this morning that looked like an official Best Buy email but this was the added text--

Your order BBY-3433915819 has not been delivered because the specified address was not correct.
Please fill this form and send it back with your reply to this message.

If we do not receive your reply within a week we will pay your money back less 17 because your order was reserved for the time of Christmas holidays.

Hmm, you think the sender is from overseas?

Be careful.

I've heard there's a really bad computer virus going around right now and that it often involves delivery of an item. I was advised not to open any email attachments under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES without confirming by telephone with the sender first.

I'M TRYING to be awesome today, but I'M EXHAUSTED from being so freakin' AWESOME YESTERDAY!

I received a couple of fake "official" looking UPS delivery emails with attached .zip files.

I deleted them.

Note the fake email address.

Scams like this have been around a long time... Most of 'em get sent to the bulk folder in my case and from there to the digital black hole from which I never see 'em again.. But of course I get another 10 copies tomorrow or so it seems.

If you have not ordered from BB, then clearly it's a scam..

My favorite was the scammer who claimed to be Bank of America and said they were having some problems accessing my account...

Well, I do not doubt they were having problems accessing my account at BoA.... You see.. I do not have an account there.

We got the same scam email from Amazon. They're out there folks - especially those which say they're trying to deliver a package, but it's been delayed/damaged/lost so they need a claim form completed. Yeah, sure.

I have 2 email accounts. 1 is strictly for buying stuff. That is the only one that gets SCAM/SPAM stuff.

BTW, UPS, DEA, FBI, IRS, and your bank will NOT email you. They will call or send a snail-mail. So, if it looks official, it aint.

All and virus programmers, hackers and scammers and the like make smoke roll off the top of my head. If Gov't wants to get my votes, they should come up with a public death sentence for these people. Can you tell it pisses me off to no end.

Just think about how much extra your compute and communications devices cost because of protection devices. Many you would normally not seen add they try and protect things like the bios from being hacked. I agree these folks (script kiddies, professional hackers, etc.) need to be strung up for the grief they cause all of us.
