I agree with Poptop. Some of the worst road conditions we've been on have been on toll roads (i.e. 80/90 in western OH).

When we were visiting my son in Newport, RI, the toll across the bridge was $1. I had the King Ranch F350 Dully then. I stopped and purchased a roll of tokens for $10. When you do that you get to pass free that time of purchase. When I asked for the roll they told me that I could not use it in a vehicle that weighs 8000 pounds. I argued that I did not weigh 8000 pounds, but they would not sell me a roll of tokens. I finally found my registration in the glove box and Texas had my truck listed at a little over 7000 pounds. Reluctantly, they sold me the roll of tokens.

On one trip across a collector jumped out of her toll booth and put her hands up and stopped me. Apparently she had been watching me cross and throw tokens into the collector box. She walked to the window and stated that I could not use tokens in a vehicle that weighs 8000 pounds or more. I told her that my vehicle did not weigh 8000 pounds. She said that all dual wheel pickup trucks in RI weigh 8000 pounds. I reach up over the visor and pulled down my registrations. She read it, look at me funny, and passed me on.

I wonder how many others get ripped off for being 8000 pounds when they are not.

On the other hand, I have an E-Z pass on the MH, and TOAD. Texas seems to be charging me full price for both when I am towing, instead of by axle. Hmmm! I need to call them.

Humm, Big dummy me. I registered my 02 Chevy dually for 11,000lb license plates to be legal when towing our 5er. Had I registered it for 5,000 or 7,000# plates I could do that also.
