New Indiana traffic law

FYI--- for those traveling in or through Indiana. Law starts July 1st : taking effect July 1 gives faster drivers the right of way in so-called highway fast lanes and permits police to issue tickets to left-lane drivers who fail to budge when they should reasonably know another vehicle is overtaking them,

The mandate does not apply during traffic congestion, bad weather, while exiting on the left, paying a toll or pulling over for an emergency vehicle.
However, at all other times motorists risks fines if they are in the left lane and do not move to the right when another vehicle wants to pass.

Texas is a left lane for passing only. You're not supposed to ride in the left lane at all unless passing, of course everyone ignores that

I always thought the left lane was the passing lane but we have all gotten behind the car that is keeping pace with the right lane and causing traffic to back up behind him. Hopefully this will fix that problem.

back in the day I was taught there was the on/off/travel lane (right lane) and the passing lane (left) and if you weren't passing someone you stayed out of it. in a 3 lane highway it was on/off/slower vehicles/ travel lane(middle) and passing (far left). today seems like a free for all.

Makes sense to me. In Germany on the AutoBahn, you would get ran over in the left lane if you were not passing something.

Slower Vehicles Keep right has been the rule in many states for many years. Nice to see it enforced.

Of course when I'm doing 70 in a 55 and the idiot limo driver is wanting to pass..... I pray for one of my dispatchees just down the road.. And occasionally... My prayer is answsered!!!!

If sense was common, everybody would have it.

Driving my 4 wheeler, I see lots of people try to make the left lane bandit move over. I don't even play that game. I just pass them on the right. Truckers too, who fall asleep in the left lane.

Lived in CA for 28 years. Truck drivers are given a ticket if they stay in the left lane!

We live out in our old van. Travel all across this land. Drive until the city lights dissolve into a country sky, me and you - hand in hand.

Too bad they didn't pass that law in Ohio. It has to be one of the worst states for slow left lane drivers. Worst has got to be I-71 from Cleveland to Columbus, but I-75 is a close second.

A big part of today's problem is too many cars and too few roads.

Come over and visit MN, they love to hang out in the left lane just because they can.

I've met people who actually say the left lane is for driving , right lane is only for getting on/off the hiway. Serious
