Well, you'll only be paranoid until the first chip - then it becomes easier.

When I was traveling a few years ago I found an RV'er who repairs windshields, Larry Diaz, and he did a fantastic job of fixing a chip in my windshield. When he was finished you could not tell where the chip was. Just such a fantastic job. I don't know what system he used, but I have never been able to find anyone that could make the chip "invisible." I'm still looking, or hoping to run into Larry again as i have a couple more chips now.

woe is me!

It really ticks you off to get a brand new windshield chipped. I had one replaced in a car while at work. about 2 hours after he finished, I got on the freeway and within 10 minutes....bang...a rock was thrown up and it cracked immediately...right across the drivers side.

I had a windshield replaced at a shop some 40 miles from home. Before I even got home it was broken again! Kind of think some kids in a passing pickup threw something but couldn't prove it.

Had a bad one on our toad last summer, a rock the size of a tennis ball came out of the duals of an oncoming truck. It almost came right through and we were covered in glass chips. Had it replaced and have had 3 chips filled since and now it is cracked. It will stay like that for now.
