I normally don't make New Year's Resolutions, but this year I am making an exception:

I resolve to retire in March and hit the road in our RV.

That gave me a headache. I better go take an adult beverage to ease the pain.

Making a resolution is an admission of imperfection and something I need not do.

I've already fallen victim to the standard fare of resolutions - loose weight, enjoy the RV more and work less. I firmly believe that if you don't have targets to aim at, the chances of success are less.

My New Year's resolution this year is to find ways to make my resolutions work. The old saying that it is insane to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result is my guide. I have to, for example, come up with a better approach to loosing weight other than just resolving to eat less. I've tried that and it isn't successful.

I've decided to be an optimist, glass-half-full person this year. There are lots of reasons not to be optimistic but I'm electing to ignore them. Rather than wringing my hands about possible bad things that might happen, I'm preparing for them as if they will. It they don't, I'll be that much better off. Worrying about stuff I cannot control has be modified to the approach of taking steps to facilitate change.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
