I applogize if anything I've said came across as offensive. Honestly just wanted to understand what's going on as I have been unable to catch the news in the last few days. The news I have seen never really explained why this is happening. I appreciate those who have provided some insight. Thanks.

Well, it turns out that the reason is RV-related...

North Korea is all jacked outta shape 'cause they heard that South Korea built the 1997 4-cyl. Kia Sportage that's world-famous for having towed my trailer all over creation. North Korea can't even build a working soap box derby car, so naturally they're ticked off.

In that part of the world, that means bomb talk.

I wouldn't worry too much about them being able to actually hit South Korea, though, since the rubber band that propels their missiles is actually made out of "rubber" reclaimed from the Departed Dear Leader's flip flops.

And then there's their guidance systems....

For many decades, they have rattled sabers to get attention. Usually, it's because they are close to or in a famine. This allows them to control their own people without appearing weak. The western world in the past has rewarded these tantrums with aid relief of food stuffs and other goods they need. This time, as has been said by the west, is different. Rant and rave and posture, we are not bailing you out. Who knows where it goes from here.

All this bluff and bluster is for the internal consumption of his Hermitage. The problem is that he has raised the stakes so high this time around that it would only take the smallest offense, perceived or real, get the party started. China does not want American forces on it's southern border and will prevent, as much as it can, Kim Jung Crazy from running to far astray. But even they seem to be having difficulties keeping a leash on him.
Don't forget his people think that they are currently being attacked, they have no information to be able to discern the truth for themselves, so he keeps his people scared while trying to shake up the relatively new government in the South. As long as cooler heads prevail this should blow over by the end of the month.

I also heard something that said he has to do this to show strength to his own military and political opponents so that he can tighten his grip on power in his own country. It's a much a internal struggle as it is a external one. Maybe.

His people have been told that in addition to the sanctions causing economic hardships, the U.S. and Western forces have them surrounded, and are poised to attack. He has also ended the armistice with S. Korea, and threatens to attack them. He needs a win because his people are suffering and not happy..
https://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/10/w...armistice.html

Most of this is for internal consumption, but could potentially go ballistic with just a misstep anywhere. (no pun there)

That's the primary reason as we studies it in War College. Create an enemy and the need for internal sacrifice to protect the heritage and way of life. Pu anyone that remotely questions in work camps. Strong military that supports the political structure. Controlled media to insure no one finds out the truth.

Combine that with an Army that outnumbers the South Koreans in a major way. You then have a tinderbox waiting for a match.

Two very proud and fanatical people's in their way of life. Bottom line ... a mess.

There is a strong tie to RVing...any bowup in tension there will be the next excuse for driving up oil costs...when you diesel goes up 35 cents a gallon, then it'll relate to RVing.

The first Camping & RV Show in So Korea debuted in Seoul on 9 July 2010. Camping In South Korea | RV Business
Since November 15, 1974, the South has discovered four invasion tunnels crossing under the DMZ that have been dug by North Korea. If you choose to travel to South Korea and camp, http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/...jsp?cid=768898 beside visiting Seoul, you can tour the DMZ and enter underground tunnels crossing. http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/...keyword=Tunnel The 4th tunnel discovered in 1990 measures about 6.5 ft tall and 6.5 ft wide and is about 450 ft below ground. With this discovery, we now know that North Korea has dug invasion tunnels along the entire stretch of the front line.
PS: Like many others, I got to camp in South Korea long ago and saw Bob Hope courtesy of the United States Military.

Good God. Tune in to any TV News program. What you get there won't be any less accurate than what you get here.
