We had a place a few years ago that we built that backed on to a wet lands park and there were a bunch of deer that were there all the time. They would put their noses up against the patio door and drive my Jack Russell into a frenzy. The bad part was they would eat all our new plantings around the house. They were better pets than most of the dogs in the neighborhood,at least better behaved than mine.

Down here in Texas that doe would be mistaken for a elk. Don't let us Texans tell ya everything is bigger down here. Our white tail are wily but I've seen bigger dogs.

Once when driving around dusk through Nebraska - a buck stepped out of head high corn onto the shoulder of the road. Thought it was bigfoot at first.

No offense intended to my Texas deer hunting friends. But the further north ya go - the bigger them critters get.

Nice picture, excellent morning coffee, always nice to see wildlife around the home, that is except for the garden.

A few years ago, while we were camped at Sibley Lake in the Bighorn National Forest, we were amused by one of the campground deer. He would wander from site to site, looking for dogs to play with.

If he came across an RV with an open door, he would try to go in. His rack would get in the way, so he would turn have to duck to get in.

I asked the host about him, and found out that he had been (illegally) raised by people and then set free.

Didn't get a photo but our backyard has had geese coming onshore from the lake. You can not believe the mess those critters make. Then a neighbor told me that geese will not step over a string. I'll be darned if a few stakes and some string doesn't keep them out.
