From my dad (in regards to using shop tools)
  • "a place for everything and everything IN its place"
  • "See that saw blade right there?.... It's job is to try to cut your finger off, Your job is to not let that happen!"
And a quote my dad used from Norm Abram's "New yankee workshop" tv show...
  • "And remember this: there is no more important safety rule than to wear these — safety glasses"

Not sure why but dad always said it would put hair on my chest and he was right. My sister was having none of it.

Along those lines - dad always said - if someone says - do ya wanna fight - haul off and hit em hard. They already said they were ready to fight. Of course I never did.

I worked once with a older fellow that was teaching the safe use of power tools. His saying stuck with me and I have repeated it to younger people that I have taught safe use of machines. Never put your fingers where you wouldn't put your(other body part) that can't be said here.

Most people will, lie, minimize or deflect. An old Sgt used to say "One man, one kit" when one of kids was asking "Do you know where I put ......."
