We had home mail delivery twice a day...morning and afternoon....we also had two choices of paper...morning and afternoon.....Bus drivers and mailmen wore uniforms with ties and caps. Full serve gas stations...remember thinking that self serve was a fad...remembering it was a couple cents cheaper to gas up at the self serve gas pump.

Yeah, I remember the good old days......outdoor toilets, no air conditioning, no running water, no central heating or even portable electric heaters, trying to stay warm by a fireplace, studying by an Alladin kerosene lamp.........yep, I sure miss the good old days!

A week or two ago Mary and I drove by my grandparents old home place. House is gone, the old storm cellar is now just a hump in yard and I finally figured out why grandpa always had boards laying out in back yard. It had rained and lot was very low, therefore water standing and the boards was the sidewalk to outhouse. The only store in town back when I was a child was gone as we're many of the homes.

O the good old days!

We still have one just south of town... it is a family event thing, playground for the kids to play 1st movie is usually kiddo stuff, second movie is pg or pg13 rated... 1 price for both movies... little kids fall asleep in the truck bed or in sleeping bags depending ont he time of year, it is closed either labor day or Halloween dependingf on the weather through winter until Memorial day. It is tradition to try and go at least once a season to help support nostaligic Drive Ins... but the films are being made different now and small drive ins are having trouble raising the money for the new players necessary for the films coming out now.

Thanks for sharing. I'm older than dirt. But proud to say I really miss times when things were alittle slower, Family spent everynight at the table eatting together. Setting under the shade tree or on the pourch drinking ice tea with family and freinds. GOOD TIMES!!!
