If the starter won't engage long enough to start I would try to jump start the gen or at least make sure the battery is fully charged.

If you don't have the service manual you might be able to find it here;

My Gen set, when trying to start it , it cranks fine (new batteries) starts to smoke a little and then the start cuts out while I'm still holding the start button. On the control board 300-5374 I Found diode P1-10 with 0.00 vdc and it should be .4vdc-.7vdc So I borrowed my buddies control board and the gen set continues to run with the start switch held down but then dies when you let up on the start switch. Thought the other control board would fix it, just a little different starting Any help is much appreciated.

I've known a lot of 32 code issues to be resolved with a new fuel pump and/or filter. They're not expensive and can be found on Amazon.
