Open wine in rv fridge - legal?
Does anyone know if it is legal to carry an open bottle of wine in the RV fridge while driving in the U.S.A.?

I think the correct answer depends upon which state you happen to be in at the time.
I'm not a wine or hard liquor drinker, but I wouldn't worry about what's in the fridge, from a legal standpoint, while traveling.

Anyone who drinks wine or liquor would most likely have some open bottles on board ( refrigerator or cabinet ). I've never heard of any issues.

would think at the real remote chance it would be an issue the cops would drain the bottle at road side. I travel with open bottles all the time with no issue,

Some states consider an open container that's not in reach of the driver as okay. If it were me, I would not worry about state laws about open containers unless I was drinking from one while sitting in the driver's seat. If a police officer wants to be pissy enough to cite me for an open container in a fridge 20' from the driver's seat that's something I'd bring up with the judge.

I think you are good to go. We carry open wine, and liquor as well as open boxes of beer. Unless they have a justifiable reason I do not believe they can enter your MH.
There was that scam with the police seizing money and goods in some states. The first response was to refuse to let them enter the coach.

Another perspective: We changed to boxed wines because they are not breakable. A box of wine is technically not "open" when only partially consumed. \ken

If there is too much to finish off yourself, give me a call. I'd be happy to help.

In the State of Washington as long as it's not in reach of the driver its legal. It's also legal for passengers to drink while the motor home is in motion. The same rules as when riding in a "party bus".

I have never seen the cops pull over an rv and search their coach. I have gone thru the border patrol checkpoints many times, no problem
