Most all weather (WX) alert radios will work well. In my experience I have a Cobra Nightwatch CB with a WX Alert. If there's an alert where I am, the radio will issue a hi-pitched sound that you can't miss. The radio is wired to be hot with the key "OFF" so that the WX Alert feature works all the time.

DriVer,
Can you give a little more info on the CB radio with WX alert. I know this may be a silly question but we are still so new so many things are confusing to us. Will this radio sound everytime any weather is in the area? Some that I have talked to say some of the radios are constantly going off even for minor weather events which keeps them awake at night.

Thank you

bobnshirlene, I obtained my Radio from Clay's Radio Shop in the great state of Texas.

Cobra 25WX NWST

Clay's can also super tune the radio and install an internal RF noise filter inside the radio. I also bought a Firestick no ground plane antenna.

Hi Driver,

What means "super tune"?
In my nearly 60 years experience with receivers and transmitters, I have never heard that term used?

hamguy, I am not qualified to offer a response however if you click on the link I provided to Clay Radio Shop all the optional services are listed at the bottom of the SKU. This is all I can show you.

Performance Tune Up

They also go into detail about what each option is for.

In my opinion the super tune that was done on my rig was to just check to see if it was working before they shipped it. The radio works well so I expect they did their job. I'm sure that they didn't install a "Flux Capacitor"

OK, I understand. That shop seems to be on the up and up. Good luck!

I just got a new Android phone. It does not have a weather alert (I am only up to page 280 in the manual), but I suspect that real soon, a weather alert will be standard on phones with GPS. Mine has radar and hourly forecast for wherever the phone knows us to be.
