We did not mean to offend any one and discussed at great length how to present the revised Terms of Service (TOS) to the membership. The TOS were revised in a few small areas to better define use of the IRV2 Forums.

In order to get them in front of the membership, it was decided to put them at the top of each forum where they were easily accessble. After a period of time, they would be made less visable.

As for enforing the "rules", the revised TOS will make this easier for the Moderaors and Administrators since gray areas are better defined.

Your facts are not correct. Not only is membership up, so is the overall usage for the website.

In your day to day dealings, isn't it nice to know up front what to expect from a relationship.

That is all we are doing here.

Bill

Well, I don't think it's overkill, if the admin felt there was a big enough issue to callit to everyone's attention, so be it. We are kind of new here, and enjoy it a lot...and have learned a lot.
The following is strictly my humble opinion: Let's keep it friendly, and keep it user friendly, and family friendly. Again, strictly my humble opinion.

Since I was the person who started this thread, may I please clarify my thoughts on the original posting. The rules and regulations don't bother me at all. This site is owned and managed by some good folks and it is a something I look forward to daily for a visit to just see what is new.

What I meant by overkill it the fact that it showed up on every section, all 50+ of them. That was a bit much, even for a law and order guy like myself. A couple of places would have been fine. I see that the extras got removed and I am glad. Some of the admin types apparently saw what I was talking about and did the right thing.

Now again, as far as the rules and regulations go, make them what you want to. I am but a visitor here and frankly I enjoy the company.

Let's not stoop to being rude and nasty to each other. Some of us do have short fuses it appears, while others seem to itch for a confrontation. Each of us have our own little quirks - i.e 'MY (MH, chassis, truck, trailer etc.) is the best there is attitude'.
We can live with all that even if it irritates some of us.
So to paraphrase Lincoln, it is time to bind up the nation's (site's) wounds and move on.

Am I sorry I started this thread? No, it needed to be said. Knowing what I know now, would I do it again? Nope, I would just keep my mouth shut until all those 'rules and regulations' post disappeared on their own.

My grand-daddy said it best, "ya'll play pretty now".

Doc, we had long discussions on how to get the revised TOS in front of the members and decided that many people only vist one or two forms on a regular basis. The best way to get them out to the public was to put it in every forum for a few days and then roll them back to fewer locations and maybe some hot button links. We just wanted everyone to be aware of the changes made and making this a better place for everyone.

Mike and Lynda, we try to visit every forum to watch the content. Yes, we do miss some of the post and will have to depend on the members to flag a post that is offensive or does not meet the TOS. So please email any of the moderators if you see a problem.

We do have the "Remember me." active on the log in screen now. When you log in just be sure to check the box and next time you log in, it should bypass the login screen.

The Rules & Regulations are justified in my opinion. Those of us who value the feelings of others and respect their right to have different opinions, would not conduct ourselves in any different manner anyway.

I serve on a city council as an alderman. We have many differences of opinion. We feel free to voice our differences with out fear of verbal assault. Some of my best friends are those I don't always agree with. We have learned to disagree in a friendly and profesional manner.

I visit this site daily when I am near a computer. It is much more friendly than another unnamed site I visit occasionally. It is a source for information and relaxation. I encourage Warpath and the moderators to continue to keep this the most user friendly site I visit.

Welllll, I wasn't going to say anything but...
I find people are more comfortable knowing the rules.

I even published some to my Grandchildren some years ago.

They were not 'Chicken' but they knew what was acceptable in my home and my vehicles.

Annnnd they was no arguments. Art

Petro and ArtB, we certainly appreciate the words of encourgagement from our members. As much as we would all like to, we have a hard time pleasing all of the people all of the time. I guess if we can make 51% pleased, we are ahead of the game, but we'd really like to be much higher than that.

5% of the people on earth cause 99% of the problems. It just SEEMS like the complainers are so numerous.

Keep up the good work and thank you for this great forum.

Warpath and all the moderators,

I was going to keep my mouth shut, but I have to say this.

This is the only RV forum on the web that I find worth visiting on a regular basis. You are right, you are not going to please everyone every time. With as many members as we have, it is AMAZING that there are so few problems.

I, for one, appreciate all of the effort that goes into keeping this FREE forum peaceful, thoughtful, and productive.

THANK YOU!

Steve

Thanks for the postive feedback.

At times it is easy to get caught up in some of the converstions and get carried away. It is also easy to focus on someone's posts and get carried away.
Thank goodness we have you folks and a group of moderators that we can bounce things off of to get some feedback.
As a moderator on this site it is a lot of fun. Especially when you have a great group of folks enjoying the same things.
I moderate on a couple of other sites and it is not often a lot of fun.
So thanks again for the positive feedback.
Chet
