Parents

I am wondering if many RVer's have the opportunity to do much RVing with their parents. My parents, who retired about 15 yrs ago sold their business and the very next day jumped in their motor home and left on their journey. My mom kept journal's on every where they went along with every where they could stay, get water, dump the holding tanks for free or minimal charge. I have enjoyed listening to their stories and now that I just retired and the DW will soon retire have decided to follow in their footsteps plus do more as we are lucky enough to start at a much earlier age. Our first step is to prepare for full timing which we are doing and then this winter we plan on wintering down in AZ with them. My parents wants to show us Alaska in early 2014 which we really are looking forward to and were surprised that they wanted to make another trip up there as my dad is getting on in years 80, and has slowed down but is still on top of the game. I know this will not go on forever and we want to take full advantage of these opportunities with them. Just wondering if others are as lucky as we are, time to add to the memories before there gone forever.

I wish! Dad passed on from the big C at 59. Fortunately, he retired early and had three good years of retirement with Mom, travelling in a fifth wheel to the 'sunny side'. They sold the truck and trailer just before he passed :( as Mom could not drive it. Now we are travelling in much the same manner, and Mom loves to hear from us to reminisce about how she and Dad used to enjoy what we are enjoying now. I would love nothing more than to bring her down to stay with us for a week or two, or even a month, but her health issues at 82 years of age prevent her from being able to buy insurance. The health insurance on low income is the only deterrent, as her health issues would not prevent her from travelling and enjoying a holiday down south. So, we share our memories with Mom and rejoice in the fact that she is still with us in order that we can at least do that. Enjoy your parents while you have them, because once they are gone, you cannot share with them all the things you want to say. Enjoy your travels, and thanks for sharing.
