The root question that is usually not addressed in these discussions is this: Is the United States currently at war or not?

If the answer is yes, then one who is concerned about restrictions on individual liberties should compare what's being proposed today with the restrictions put in place during World War II.

If the answer is no, then nothing can be said that would justify any efforts on the part of the government to tighten security.

Rusty

Ok if we are truly at war would you not thank one of the first things to do is get control or one's boards.

I say our Government is not truly at war they are more interested in controlling you and me.

The QUESTION IS WHY??

I disagree with your premise. Therefore, to me, your question is moot.

Your papers please comrade. Next we'll have internal security check points to view these passports.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/08/....id/index.html

This is NOT my father's America any more.

They choke us with all these new piled on... everything's, yet... They still leave the border wide open.

Therein lies the problem. The only thing people do anymore is complain. We complain and gripe and whine about the problem, but never do anything about it. Year after year we elect the same band of regulars into political office. We sit back and wait for someone else to step up and fix the system. If someone comes along with both good ideas and ambition, we shout them down as being either an unrealistic idealist or a crackpot or just unelectable. And then we do as we always have done and get the exact same results.

Until we change, there's no reason in the world for any of us to expect our country to change.

Mike, I don't feel it's right to scrutinize the legal citizins of this country when we are looking for the bad guyz. Like you said, the science is there to do just about anything we need to do. Make the super chip for these creeps, leave me out of the line ups please, it worries me very much about where it's all going for us honest folk. Felons and illegals have NO rights in my eyes, so crack down hard on them, not us.
