When we are gone for a month or so, have DD pick up our mail for us and when we call she gives us the amount owe. Then we go online with our bank and enter the payments. Do all of my banking online so it is not a big deal where we are.

Most banks offer electronic fund transfers. We can set up repeating payments of same amount every month (car payments, for example), or we can indicate a specific amount to a specific location. This method of payment is very convenient when you're on the road and can also be used when you're home.

We have as many bills as possible delivered as e-bills through our online banking service. The ones that don't offer that, we pay ahead

We have as many bills as possible (phone, utilities, etc.) auto-billed to one credit card -- cuts all those down to one check a month, and gets us lots of credit card points, which we turn into cash. Then we pay that credit card electronically from our bank website.

There are some businesses that will give a discount to opt out of paper billing and go to all e-billing. Our vehicle insurance is one.

Us too. I set-up autopay through my banks website, and slightly overpay this months bill amount, each month we will be traveling. Each bill is paid each month this way and when we return home we find we have a credit with most companies. The electric bill for instance, was actually paid in full for the upcoming monthly bill too. Our bank would pay electronically when the payee accepted it, otherwise the bank would actually snail-mail a check in time for it to arrive prior to the due date.
I kept track of happenings when we overnighted and had wifi, for all our financial dealings.

The Post Office will only hold your mail for 1 month. They will forward it to another address for free. We have everything forwarded to our daughter and she tells us if anything important came it. 95% is junk mail.
