Hello, All
There's a story taking shape this very moment that affirms my high opinion of my fellow Americans, and brings tears to my eyes to boot.
I'm an old car restoration buff, and came across this unfolding story while browsing the web on that subject.
Briefly, a fellow in Pennsylvania (Rick) has been restoring his old Chevy while at the same time undergoing cancer treatment.
He's been posting about the project in a Chevy Forum as it goes along.
On October 26th an administrator of the Forum posted that Rick has run out of time, is confined to his bed, and wants only to see the car finished.
The response in that little community has been -is- a truly remarkable outpouring of help.
People are actually coming at their own expense from distant places to finish the project for him.
Others unable to go to Pennsylvania are offering and giving money to be used in any way the helpers see fit.
And all without publicity of any kind- just an outpouring of love and support for a neighbor in deep distress.
The first helpers will be arriving in Rick's home town of Green Lane Pennsylvania tomorrow, Halloween Day.
The whole unfolding story can be read as it's happening on the Chevy site- the Administrator's post that opened the floodgates is #196 at this link:

Here's wishing the best for Rick, and a huge thanks to those generous folks for allowing me to be a witness to their simple goodness.
