Phone Scams

Got a call today, normally I don't bother answering when I don't recognize the number. Anyway, picked the phone up and there was a recording, It was about lowing interest rate on a credit card. Would have hung up but ofr the heck of it selected the 1 to talk to someone. And ofcourse a foreign voice came on the line. I Asked, what they wanted, Him: lower interest rate. Me: what card? Him: Visa, Me: give me the number of this visa Card you want to lower the interest rate on. Surprise.....He hung up on me. Was sooooo hurt, He'll probably never call me again.

Every once in a while, I LOVE to mess with these types of callers, especially the ones that have the nerve to call at dinner time. I've got a long script I wrote years ago I keep i the drawer below the phone. It just rambles on & on about all sorts of nonsense. I just keep talking & talking...they can't get a word in edgewise. Then I'll pause a second & when they start to talk, I start back in again. They usually hang up pretty quick.

We get a lot of Construction Companies/Solar Power sellers calling, we usually don't answer but when my wife does, she tells them we don't have a home and they never know what to say, even though they know they are calling our house, and they just hang up.

I have OOMA phone system. It has an excellent telemarketing blocking system. Has almost eliminated sales calls.

You wish he'd never call again.. They are always calling me and I do not even HAVE a credit card (Ok, I do have one but it is kind of covered with cobwebs and has not seen the light of day in a decade,, or a balance other than 0.00)

I got one from an "Insurance Advisor" the other day.. The catch here is the phone number was traced to of all things an insurance advisor.

When I ask for my $500 payment as stated in the federal law (Title 47 SS 227 USC) she laughed.. I gave her chapter and verse and she laughed.

I sent a formal letter (Too soon for a reply they likely got it Friday) I wonder if she is still laughing.

When I have nothing to do and I get one of these type of calls I take a different course with them. I act like a very very lonely person that hasn't heard a human voice in months! I start wasting their time with questions like....."are you married? How is the wife and kids? Do you like to travel? Where did you go on your last trip?" THEY give up and HANG up!
