Phony Email

I got an Email yesterday that is unbelievably phony. It is an order confirmation for a 42" TV that is due to ship today. It has my name, a phony address and phony town name. (can't even find the name for Wa. state. My concern is it has several links on it (and I won't go there) but others might before realizing it is phony. Does anyone know where I can send it so it can be checked out and maybe catch these guys. Other than address & town name it all looks athenic.

Be sure and check your credit card & bank statements to make sure someone didn't buy a TV and have it sent to their house.

If you receive unsolicited e-mail offers or spam, you can forward the messages to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov.

If you turn on spam blocker in you email you will only receive email from contacts in your contacts file.

Any more now, if I get an email from a friend with a link, I forward (not reply) the email back to the sender to make sure they actually sent it. I've had a few turn out to be from hackers that hacked into the friend's account.

I get 20 to 40 of these a week. Delete them. Don't waste your time trying to report them to anyone. Chances are very good they are coming from the other side of the world. Russia, China, India, etc. Who would ever find them?

I've "heard" some countries are hard on hackers.

I'm so busy negotiating with my Nigerian banker that I don't have time for all the other offers.

Can't help answering them back and calling them on their scam. I get to use some of the words I can't use on this site in my description of their antics.

Yup. Just like a sailor.

(Sorry no offense intended).

Not a good idea. What you are doing is confirming your email address for them. They are sending out mass computer generated email addresses. When you reply you are confirming that your address is active and you become a target.

Absolutely correct advice. Never ever reply....just simply delete.
