The rabbit died is a good one. Just the other day I mentioned George Harrison and a 20 something coworker said "Who is that?" They had heard of the Beatles but didn't know any of their songs. They're amazed that I know so many of their songs until I explain that they're remakes of songs from my teens.

As a young lad, my Dad had a pharmacy and a small medical lab and I can sadly report that the rabbit died either way... pregnant or not. I used to play with the rabbits all the time and they kept changing. A urine sample was introduced through a large vein in the rabbits ear and then a certain number of days later the rabbit was dispatched with ether and the lab tech examined the rabbits uterus. If there was a little spot of the implanted egg, then the woman was pregnant or visa versa. At that age, I just enjoyed playing with them. Don't know where the phrase came from, but they all died.

What about clothes that were "wash and wear" and didn't need ironing?

"everything is Jake" or "hey, that's Jake"

I've gotten blank stares from seniors, maybe it's just a regional (read Connecticut) thing.

A visit from the TV Repairman.

Having your personal Transistor Radio.

Adjusting the Rabbit Ears to get better reception.

Going to the corner store to use the Tube Tester in order to avoid calling the TV Repairman.
