A few years ago I was returning to MA from an event in CT. I stopped at a gas station along I-84 and was asked by the attendant if I had jumper cables, and if I did, could I help out the young couple from Maryland whose VW Jetta needed a boost. I agreed, got out my cables, and opened the hood of my 1987 Pontiac Grand Prix, where upon the young man exclaimed, "Wow!! Is that a V8???". It actually took me a couple of minutes to comprehend the fact that he had never seen one of the most popular engine designs to ever come out of Detroit.

How about "Tailormade", and also Windwing (vent window on older cars.)

I stopped at a Lowe's to get a new knife. The "associate" had no idea what I was talking about when I ask for a "jack knife".

It is amazing how fast things get dated.

I told a client the other day that if the three finger salute don't work it is BRS time. He did not know what either meant. Guess I'm getting old.

Three finger salute is CTRL-ALT-DEL, BRS is Big Red Switch. For decades IBM had a red power switch on everything from mainframes to PC's. As a tech BRS has been a term used since I started in the 80's.

Outhouse. Toilet on the hill behind the big house

Penny Poke. No, not a cheap hooker, its a small bag for ''Penny Candy''

Penny Candy. Gone the way of the Silver Dollar. aint none no more.

Hide and go Seek. Game played by children at night, (no batteries required)

Kick the Can. Like ''hide and go Seek'' but you use cans to get away free.

Blind mans Bluff. Party game for kids.

more as I remember them.......

I wonder how many kids can make a ''tractor'' from a wooden sewing spool, a rubber band, a match stick and a thumb tack?

I wonder how many kids can make a ''BB Shooter'' from a spring powered clothes pin?

I wonder how many kids have ''Flown a June Bug'' on a piece of sewing thread.

I wonder how many kids know how to make a ''sling shot''.....

God bless our troops ....

Sheesh, I must be getting old, I remember most of them. LOL Seajay, we had great fun with those BB shooters. Used dried peas from the bins behind the local processing plant. The yard was not fenced in those days.

We shot stick matches and set the hill on fire. No sitting for a week and grounded for the summer!

canvas water bags on the bumper,
nickle cone,
and my favorite four letter word, W-O-R-K, huh, what's that?

Went into Staples and asked the young clerk for a laundry marker. Blank look. How about a Sharpie? That worked better.

How about 8 party line?

Red Ball Jets? "run faster, jump higher" Man I feel old suddenly.

I liked the dimmer switch on the floor. Except the problem in the Northeast where they often went bad from moisture and road salt. Why aren't they called "brighters" though since your headlights are normally on the dim setting?
