Now one of the more interesting things in the book Murphy's Law and other reasons theings go wrong is Davis' corollary to Murphy's law.
If nothing can go wrong... It will anyway.
When I first learned of Murphy's law. In the office of my Physics, Chemistry and Biology instructors in College,, That was my instant response. (you see I'm an old farm boy, we learn that early on).
My last name is Davis.
How that got on the back cover of the book with my name on it I'll never know. (But it is possible one of my instructors took notes)
Liked that office (Well I was a science major) Classmates came on day and wanted the afternoon's physics lab cancelled due to bad weather.. I was there and mentioned that I had arrived at 7:30 same as always (Forgot to mention the quarter inch of ice crusting my coat) they replied that i lived just down the road and walked to school (TRUE).
I mentioned Mr. Thompson, who later was my Bio lab teacher, was there smoking his pipe as usuall when I arrived, They suggested he lived near by (About an 40 mile hike every day) Well he likely lives on the main highway (Gravel road so wide that if I drive down it in a Ford F-350 Custom straight truck the trees slap the mirrors, both of them, in stereo, I know, did almost that (Was riding shotgun).
They start stammering for another excuse (Mr. Thompson is smiling kind of wide) and finally I said "All he did when the going got tough is move the lever from 2-wheel drive to 4-wheel drive on his jeep) At this point he actually laughted.
I did good in bio-lab too.
