Interesting. Is that all there is to it in the US. In Canada, other that proof of citizenship you have to provide two references who have known you for more than two years and will be contacted. You also have to get a declaration and have one of your photographs signed by a guarantor who also must have known you for at least two years and must be a doctor, peace officer, judge, lawyer, minister, notary public, school principal, senior colledged adminsitrator, professional engineer etc. Our passports are also only good for 5 years.

We're lax?
