Port Alberni Toy Run

Hi all,

If you happen to be on Vancouver Island during the weekend of September 16th to 18th and want to take in a fun event then please come to Port Alberni to check out our Toy Run.

This is our 27th year and we are hoping for 1500 bikes being in the Parade into town. The city residents turn out and line the parade route to watch and applaud the riders. So far we have raised over a million in cash and about the same amount in toys over the history of this fun run.

All monies raised go to local charity causes and we are proud of the work we have been able to do to assist the underprivileged children in the Alberni Valley. The parade winds through town and ends up at the Glenwood Centre where we have fun and games for both riders and the general public.

Saturday evening we have a huge dance for the riders and on Sunday morning there is a Shriners' Pancake breakfast and then a Poker Run throughout the valley to wind up at the Kingsway Pub for a Smorgasbord Lunch and prize awarding.

Just to let you all know. Our total this year was $54,000.00 in cash and about $30,000.00 in toys. This we will use to supplement the Salvation Army Christmas hampers, food in school programs, children's play areas, along with sponsoring a free Halloween Party, free swimming, rollerblading and ice skating parties for our traditional first night New Years Celebrations, Free our town events at our local parks, and with any extra emergency support for children who require emergency support due to no fault of their own.
