Scott,
I haven't spent much tome in Arizona, but have been in a lot of other places. The one advice I will give you is to be sure that your home is located to the east of your job. That way you drive away from the sun in the morning and away from it again in the evening. Makes for a much nicer commute, and it is much safer.

Just a little hint.

And good luck!

Tom

Seeing what this decision is doing to my wife, I've made the decision to stay the course in ca right now, as she doesn't want to be away from her family... I'll deal with ca for a while longer I suppose, but it makes her happy, and makes my daughter happy to see her grandparents. As much as I would like to get out of california, family comes first. This picture I just took is why we are staying in ca. From the bottom of the photo, going clockwise, my daughter, my wife, wifes mom, and wides dad, all doing a puzzle. I was told by my daughter she did not want me to participate, so I'm taking pictures instead...

Sadly, the day will come when it won't be such a difficult move for her. You are a good guy to indulge her in this. Grandparents are good for your kid too!!

My 78 YO Mom & our Son both live in Ahwahtukee (South of South Mountain) and we lived there for 13 years, although about 24 years removed.

You get a place with a pool and do the outdoor stuff when it's 90 or less. You can adapt. You won't need to worry about state taxes.

I moved away for a promotion to Las Vegas.

You can count on traffic, but depending where you are in CA it may be better than your current commute.

Sounds like you made the right decision. Family comes first. Phoenix will still be here if/when the time is right.
