50% off a new car? Wow. Now that would be a Huuuuga discount. Lol.
Car ads are the worst.

Buy Now to get the BEST Deal! BUT Wait...We'll double the offer...just pay shipping and handling. (which BTW is more than the product is worth)
Crazy Eddie!
You're killing me Larry!
There is NOTHING about any commercial that I have ever watched on TV which would provoke me to buy that product.

I'd agree. I can't really think of the last thing that i bought based on a commercial. However the commercials must work on some individuals and for some companies because they keep spending an awful amount of $$$$$ for the ads.

I thought the Viagra, etc. Commercials were bad...now we get to view ads for catheters....with polished ends or whatnot... can there really be that many folks needing those( and discretely delivered depends) out there they feel the need to broadcast commercials for that stuff?

God as my witness, years ago, maybe late '70s, early '80s, I was a Police Officer in a small upstate, New York, city. It must have been around shift change because I can remember six or eight of us were standing in the radio office, shooting the bull. The radio office looked out at the Police garage and parking lot. All 6 - 8 of us stood there, and watched a little old lady walk up to the window, take a brick out of her bag, and threw it through the window. Not one of us moved for a good 4 or 5 seconds, but a Lieutenant finally yelled at us to grab her before she ran. She couldn't run, she had a walker! I forget what her main malfunction was, but we laughed out butts off about it for month's afterward...if the Lieutenant wasn't around.

There is a commercial on now about faucets (I think). Somehow, they have managed to interject sexual innuendo and some screaming woman (again, I think she was trying to sing) into selling faucets. I guess sex will sell just about anything.

Those cathater commercials are directed at those on Medicade and Medicare which is almost free to them but costs us the taxpayer a ton of $$$$$$$. That also costs us for the AD. Most everybody is trying to get some of the free (to some) government money.
Wilfred B. is or was the poster child for Liberty Medical and type two diabetics. OK he was a decent actor but him as the PC. Here's a fact that most don't know. Only about 10% of diabetics are type one and have to take insulin like me (32 years). The other 90% or so are type two. That is reported to be at epidemic proportions. Do you realize that those 90% could be CURED if they got up off the couch, exercised and lost some weight.
It's frustrating because I can't be cured but others can and just choose not to.
More dumb useless wasted advertising on those who won't do anything about it.

I do follow the Viagra commercials with interest. However I only take a half a pill. I don't take it for sex, I just want to look good in my shorts !!

Fortunately, I wasn't drinking anything when I read this. LOL
They give Viagra to old men in the nursing home to keep them from rolling out of bed.

Did anyone notice the ad about some young girl thinking she was invisible because everyone ignored her, then one day she was fondling some guy on a basketball court and he called her on it. She says "come on, there are worse things than having an attractive woman touch your body". WOW, reverse the rolls, and have a guy say something like that to a woman, and you would have every idiot in the country crying about it. Can't even remember what she was selling

Television time for advertising isn't cheap. These pharmaceutical companies are charging huge prices for some of this stuff... so they can hawk it on TV. Car ads are totally stupid... Guts ... Glory ... RAM!!! Well, I bought one because I needed it. Now Chebby is hawking STEEL, to counter the beer-can Fords... And the 2 dweebs on the Sonic commercials... really? You can't do better than that? The list goes on and on...
However... my favorite, all-time commercial was from Volkswagen... kid dressed up in Darth Vader outfit trying to use the "force"... and the car starts! Dad in the house looking out the window, grinning after using the remote start...
