We are new to travel trailer camping. We have always tent camped, and love it, but felt last time we were out "something" was roaming in the campground. We now want to purchase a travel trailer. We have arrived @ 2 options....2008 McKenzie Starwood (26rks) or 2008 Starcraft 2500RKS - can anyone give us some +/-'s - opinions????? Thanks for any guidance on purchase.......

First, welcome to y'all newbies.
second, "light" trailers refer's to a group of TT's that are built lighter so they can be pulled by smaller trucks and SUV's. Generally speaking they have smaller tank capacities, maybe only one propane tank and 1 battery. Kitchens are generally sparce on cabinets. All in the means of saving weight. Also you can find frames to be of lighter materials. Framing structures also can be of lighter or less materials. This does not mean that they are cheap, just built lighter. Personally I have not seen a light weight model that i would want for the long run. Personally I would opt for a smaller TT before a light weight model. This is simply personal observations and no way degrading the concept of a light weight TT. It really depends on your tow vehicle of choice.

Welcome to irv2 newbies!!

We looked at several manufactures prior to deciding on a Coachmen Captiva Ultra Lite. Great construction and quality, many standard features. To view go to Coachmenrv.com click on travel trailers, then the Captiva link. If you want to find a dealer in your area, click on dealer locater at the top of the page. Coachmen is now offering a rebate on almost every unit they sell. Also a lot depends on your tow vehicle. We tow with a 2006 F-150 S/C. Enjoy your search. I'm sure you will find something to your liking.

For what it's worth, this is a great time to buy used, get what you want and save a bundle.
