Oh! that reminds me of one more thing I need to do to get ready! Get the flea and tick stuff for the dog and make sure I have her papers up to date with shots and all.... sheesh! I've not taken her out of state camping before except right over the state line on the other side of KC... Thanks Tim for reminding me! ( and make sure we have plenty of tick repellant for the humans too.... heard this year was gonna be a bad tick year... I already had one in March...nasty bugger....)

Which site are you in? I'd say that all the pull-through sites and most of the waterfront sites have clear satellite line-of-sight...particularly sites 111-124. We usually reserve site 117 and have great satellite reception with our roof dome. CL also has pretty good cable and wifi.

Well, I was strolling past the moho this morning when I noticed that someone had spilled a whole bottle of Michelob Ultra Lime and Cactus beer right under the radiator! This was evidenced by the rainbow-rich iridescent lime-green liquid shimmering on the concrete.

About now some of you guys are feeling sorry for me, right? Y'all are thinking , "Dumb Broad. Can't tell good beer from a nasty fluid leak." Right?

A twitch of my nose (magic?) or lip (sanity issues)? and Waaaaaa Laaaaaaa! Dave has mutated into Super-Grease-Monkey ( no offence intended to Sena. We all know that she's not that kind of munky). SGM yanked out the offending radiator and has it loaded and ready to drive into the shop to meet its maker, come the dawn.

What a man! Wow!

There are trees, but luckily the satellites are high enough in the sky so that the trees don't interfere. I think you will be fine, especially with a portable antenna.

While I'm in a talking mood I'll tell you guys that we have been out gatherin' vittles for Sunday night's WG&GE. Friday night we took a little forage out onto Pleasure Island, where we staked out a chicken. In no time at all this little fellar came along.

Then, we went frog giggin' last night in the old stock tank behind the house here. We was doin' okay til Dave slipped off the bank, splashed into the water and scared up that buncha moccasins. Still, we managed to get a fair mess a frogs, so nobody'll go hungry at the WG&GE.

I know y'all are glad to get this good news.

One year ago tomorrow I wrote the following and the rest is history...

"Heat pumps, TPMS, 4 slides (only 2), Electric basement door locks, Keyless entry, ScanGuage (et al), Residential refer, Solar panels, LED lights, Satellite dish, Clear coat, Diamond Shield, Bra, Toad guard, Full width Mud flap, Spare tire, Engine performance chip, Motion sensor lights, Window awnings, Mini-fridge - Freezer, Washer/dryer, Ice maker, Dishwasher, Extra bath, Extend-a-stay, Outdoor recliners, Exhaust brake, Bike rack, A BIRD? (no clue), Rope lights, 2 way radio, Extended Warranty".

He asked , "Why do I not miss this stuff, and why am I happy without them? Am I a mutant?" I replied, “Yes, an RV mutant. Takes one it know one.” While our rig has some things Daves doesn’t, I understand where he's coming from. We traveled many years and miles in a '91 Airstream 190 B Van bought new and kept it until a short while ago. We traveled light and happy. Dave has a diesel in the front, ours is in the rear, yours may be a gasser. No engine qualifications for RV Mutants.

Our Bounder does not have a lot of fancy stuff and doesn't look like the lobby of a casino. That's the way this RV Mutant likes it. BUT, opulent rig owners can be RV Mutants too. We can’t all have everything, so we get what suits our circumstance, are glad we did and mutate to meet our environment. We don't miss what we don't have. To the RV Mutant, as Dave likes to say “The journey is our destination.“ The goal isn’t to own the most expensive rig, with the most gadgets, or the place you thought you wanted to go. It’s the adventure of getting there your way and exploring and finding things, places, and people you never imagined existed and adapting or “mutating” to meet the adventure.

Since his original post we have identified some qualities we agree on. You may agree or not, but your thoughts on how to have a great journey are invited.

RV Mutants
[*]Protect and grow the nest egg.[*]Don't carry debt. You need the space for important things.[*]Plan your escape and escape your plans. Make the dream happen, then wing it.[*]Don't miss what ya ain't got. Be happy with ya have and to be on the road, your way.[*]Take what ya think ya need and when ya figure out ya don't need it - get rid of it.[*]Take care of what ya have.[*]We also like to pay others to work. Will do small things but won’t wash and wax 33+ feet for instance. We're retired![*]Dave and I both owe our adventure to our DWs who enjoy laughing at us and keeping us in line.
If you are or think you might be an RV Mutant let us know what ya ain't got and don't need - or what ya must have and how you roll - or any qualities ya think make for a happy RV life, present or future. Dave is full timing now - we will be next year - so how ya did you do it, are you an adaptable mutant or a hard schedule planner, and why? Ya don’t have to be full time or ever plan to be in order to be an RV Mutant. But ya can’t worry about what you can’t control, must control the things ya can, and mutate to meet adventures that come your way. This is just for fun and many aspects have been covered already - but hey - If you feel like being a RV Mutant, join in the discussion. Either way -

Safe and happy RV mutating.
RVM2 Steve

When you get to this sign
- turn right and you'll be in RV Mutant land in no time.
Last year Steve and Mary Ann (Papawto5) was the first to reply. We were working things out at the time - so he didn't nab RVM3 - but he was close. We don't hear from Jdoc often and RVM4 - 4Kids has been away for sometime. We miss but remember all our mutants.

Thanks to all for making this a great thread and the RVMdom a great place. Can't wait to meet those who will make the GC later this month - and all others in due time!!

Wow, a whole year! It's hard to believe. Time has sped away. Thanks for all the laughs, the advice, the laughs, the photos for jigsaw puzzles and most important -- the laughs.

GC here we come. Note to self : pick up some Depends in case the laughter gets outta control.

Wow Steve a year, I too am looking forward to putting more faces with names.
Thought I had everything ready to go but still a few things to get ready before the Cooper Lake gathering.

Well wishes to all, looks like by the posts the Texas group is closing in on Cooper Lake.

Just an ounce of prevention that I hope isn't needed. What Jne described sounds like anti-freeze. I hope everyone here knows that it has a sweet taste that pets will lick off concrete. But it takes very little to make them VERY ill and it can be deadly. It's also the poison most often used by women who kill someone close.

Well we're waiting on Pizza delivery here in Oklahoma - and the rain is pounding down. Dry and safe in Bonita and so far the slides are able to stay out. Have to be on our toes for wind and hail. Right now it seems the worst worst will pass us by. Hope the the Pizza is tasty!
