Hey Mutants--anyone have campground recs for Durango CO? I'm looking at the Alpen Rose CG, but would love recommendations.

Is there a Mutant Art Gallery in our future? At the rate folks were learning from Diane, I see much budding talent, and plenty for a show! Hop to it, Muteys!

Cheers!

Thanks!!

Yeah...I didn't want to do a "copy" of Starry Night. That happens to be my all-time-favorite painting, and I would never insult Van Gogh by trying to copy what he did...lol

Yes, the first acrylic...however, full disclosure...I was not a painter per se, before this...I hadn't done any painting since 1989...and then it was a project piece that I still have. I had done some drawing here and there...like the logos for my businesses.

But a friend dragged me to one of those paint-by-number classes...you know...wine and all the supplies, and 2 - 3 hours of your time? I was annoyed by all the "non-art" that was going on in the class, plus of course I didn't finish the painting....it was Starry Night...I needed another 12 hours to get it to that. So I went out the next day and bought the supplies to finish it. We went back to the class the next month, and my friend said to bring the finished painting. The reactions I got convinced me to stick with it...but not with that class, LOL!

So, just since Feb I've been painting regularly.

So glad you enjoy the "Moons!" I really loved doing it! The blue in the background is much more vibrant in person...I'll get a pro to take a hi-res photo of it soon.

Love the idea of a Mutant Art gallery!!

P.S. You want to know what Grumpy Cat's real name is? Tardar Sauce. Yup...and spelled just like that

We were at Alpen Rose for a week last fall. The campsites were nice enough and the folks helpful and cheerful. We were mostly gone all day with activities. The Durango/Silverton railroad, the drive to Ouray, local foods, and really tasty roasted chilis.

Thanks, Dave. I think we are going to stay at Priest Gulch CG in Dolores instead of Durango. Did you get my PM about the campground in Canon City?

I've been taken off NPO for ice chips, but am only allowed one cup per shift. Where's the logic?

I have a beaker, but they don't want just anybody dipping their hand into the ice chest. Not sanitary. When they get some ice, they use gloves.

Sometimes you must be your own Muppet, to make it through the rough parts.

Best wishes, Mike.

It looks to me as if he's had / been a beaker for a long time.

Hang in there Mike.
