Earlene now be easy on Wayne..... He goin blind in his old age....or was it too much smoothie?

Sue, you know all the research says that pet owners live longer, more fulfilled lives, don't ya?

Now as to what variety of furkid? I find it admirable that so many adopt their furkids from shelters, but in the confines of a Moho, perhaps it's best to know what to expect when s/he matures.

The only advice I can give is DON'T get a Yorkie or Yorkie cross. That half of Lily's personality is responsible for VERY high pitched and way to frequent barking outbreaks. I love her dearly, but Lily's barking drives me nuts. And deaf!

I opted for a girl, since boys tend to mark their turf, regardless of the breed ... OR species.

Barb.....
You are correct. I admire those who adopt, but i wanted to know what i was getting. And having had poodle, lab, basset, beagle, mix, boxer, i wanted one that does have personality..... Westies are tough dogs, bred to tunnel for rats. They are muscular and energetic. Not fragile at all.

Sue, do one of the online personality matches, this is how i decided on my first westie 15 years ago. And yes, girls squat so better suited for using pee pad in rv. LitaBit uses that in rv and then outside when at home. And if she does puddle, it isnt a spray..... Lol are we still talking toilet lids?

Barb, i was just told by a breeder that the puppy litter is what she uses now..... I havent tried it.

Diane is retired and lazy........ So please excuse the fat lazy finger slides.....

R U an RV Mutant too?

Possum, PushedAround, SarahW: I have looked at Ranger and Harry, and have a mental image of the toothless 3# yorkie keeping that big bully at bay. Wunnaful, is all I can say!

Diane's idea of an online match sounds good, and of course the shelter/rescue is a good way to go.

My collie/shepherd mix rescue was a good indoor dog except for that big long plume of a tail that could sweep a table clear in a nanosec. Calm and loving, good watchdog.

Yorkies have way too much energy for me, although they are cuties. Love the Westies, but know I would not like the upkeep. Like Barb, I would opt for a female (w/spaying, of course).

Martin used to have a whippet and might be partial to another, but that might not be a good RV choice. They need to run! Same w/most all working breeds: gotta be busy.

Looks like we might end up w/a shelter pup or adult. The shelter folks would have some idea of the breed mixture and they do give you get-acquainted time to help sort out temperament and behaviors.

All this is well in the future, though. I'll be patient till next spring and then see. I'm enjoying all your inputs and love stories.

Cheers!
Sue

Sue--I have allergies so we usually have non-shedding breeds. We had a Yorkie for 12 years and he was the center of the family. When we lost him, I found Harry in a horrible puppy mill. He is a "Yorkie-Poo" as his mother was a miniature apricot poodle and his dad a Yorkie. The only problem with non-shedding breeds is that they have to be groomed and are a little more "labor intensive"...haha.

My sister has a Boston terrier that is a great little traveler in their motorhome. If we ever decide to get another, we may consider a small short-haired terrier or bulldog. We are "dog people" and I can't imagine our lives without one.

Apparently the funnel is sucking up the water vapor/droplets that display the rainbow (via the sunlight).
