Steve, happy for you and Annie. The CRV will do you very well. Many an owner out there that is happy. Now your excursions can be longer than just a few miles up the highway,

Come on down and see us some time.

In the end the CR-V Safety and Reliability and dollar value was a factor for us Jeff. It does seem odd to me that the vehicle made to climb boulders is less safe in crash tests than my 1971 Ford Pinto and the recent GM issues didn't help when the Chevy dealer we were working with called and told we could not test drive a Traverse. We could buy one but not take it home. Because GM does not have the parts to fix the recall - on some safety feature (air bag and/or seat belt).

Bottom line - we'd look funny going down the road if every RV and Toad were identical. We are happy and for folks who have driven cars from the 90's for so long - we are in hog heaven. Although - the '97 Jag had a 3 garage door programable buttons (I think it was 3) that many of the cars - including the CRV don't have.

I will say - while I haven't figured it out yet - I do like the Nav and Intelligent Multi-Information Display - Bluetooth and the Sunroof. All I can say is BIG SMIlES around here this morning and Annie is Happy. That's the main thing!

Thanks Wayne. We have rented cars in the past - had planned to rent one at the GC - but turned out - we never really needed too. We turned CL into the Disneyland of Arkansas for a week LOL!!

If all ducks line up - we'll be down in RGV this winter with or near Don and Sandee - you can come down there and visit us!

First, don't pay no never-mind to that Jeepster. He has a one track, 4 wheel drive, mind.

As for the programmable buttons, you only need one, the garage you will keep the CRV in, and if the CRV doesn't have one, go to Lowes and buy one that clips to the visor. They work just as well as the highfalutin' programmable built in ones. Lowes has one that is so slim and small you will have to fish for it in the dark until you learn where it is.

Remember, it is what you don't have and don't miss that gets you to the other side of the rainbow.

OK then if I don't have a CRV and don't miss it then I stay mutated?

Nine Things to Ponder

Number 9
Death is the number 1 killer in the world.

Number 8
Life is sexually transmitted.

Number 7
Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

Number 6
Men have two emotions: hungry and horny, and they can't tell them
apart. If you see a gleam in his eyes, make him a sandwich.

Number 5
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day. Teach a person to
use the internet and they won't bother you for weeks, months, maybe
years.

Number4
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in the hospital,
dying of nothing.

Number 3
All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention
to criticism.

Number2
In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world
is weird, and people take Prozac to make it normal.

Number 1
Life is like a jar of jalapeno peppers. What you do today might burn
you tomorrow.

...and as someone recently said to me:
Don't worry about old age; it doesn't last that long.

Sky_Boss, hasn't Sandee returned from shopping yet? What a shopper!

The sands are rapidly running through the hourglass. Give us a call; I don't have your number or I would do the honors. We gotta keep these minis going!

Cheers!

It's tough to constantly have the thought that the old gal won't be with us forever, but if there was any silver lining in the cloud, it is the Hospice House she is in now.

We speak to her every day by phone because we live about 900 miles from where she is.

She has an uplifted spirit because of her surroundings and the people that she has caring for her. She says, staying here is like being at a 5 star resort (something my Mom has never done in her life) and the people are so wonderfully nice. Porridge in the morning is exactly the way she would make it. They come and ask her if she needs anything or would like anything. There's a triple decker bird house outside her window and she watches the birds come and go all day. Yesterday morning a lady came through with her small pet dog and Mom spent some time with it doing tricks and visiting. In the afternoon a lady came by with her guitar and Mom and her sang songs together for about a half hour. Dinners are great she says, like a fine restaurant, tastes like chef prepared. They bath her, tuck her in make sure she's comfortable.

When she talks, she sounds like she feels pampered and enjoying herself!

The people that care for her there are like Angels and it makes not being there a little easier on the heart strings .

My sister and brother are there every day thankfully.
Awwwww.....

That sounds like a wonderful place.....I only wish I could be lucky enough to watch birds all day when my time comes. ...

Thanks for sharing. ..

We went back forth on what - but in the end the Honda won us over. We didn't get many pics cause it was getting late - but I did catch the salesman putting the temp plate on.

She'll look nice behind Bonita Bounder!
Nice!

Congrats. ...

What's the toad set-up?

On my Element, I run it for 3 minutes (I do 5) in N (after moving the stick through all the "Ds"), then shut her off to ACC 1. Then do the same thing every morning and every 8 hours.

No batt disconnects, or fuses to worry about.

Start engine - Brake and move shift through all positions - Shift to D and hold 5 seconds - then to N. - Let engine run for 3 minutes - then off. Leave ignition switch in Accessory I - make sure steering wheel does not lock. If towed for more than 8 hours repeat process - and remove 7.5 A radio fuse. Reinstall fuse before starting.

Here's a few more pics in daylight..

I found that my ire was raised with non-starting tillers, snow blowers, mowers, etc. So. . . . . . . . . . a spray can labeled brake cleaner or carburetor cleaner was a required staple on my garage shelves. Remove the air cleaner, shoot a dose of cleaner into the carburetor and pull the cord. Works like a charm. Stuff must be HIGHLY combustible.
