I just wanted to share with all my fellow mutants the joy I'm feeling right now. At 4:47 EST I became a grammy again. My grandson Jaymie came into this world weighing 8lbs 8oz and was 20 inches long. He is perfect in every way!

Pondering the location of SOGC is indeed a serious ponder. Finding the right place, at the right time and reasonably accessible to the RVM nation is a challenge.
I think our biggest challenge is that we are a small group and flung far east, west, north and south of the US and Canada. Some of us are extremely nomadic and some of us aren't. Some of us have vast experience in many places while some of us are just stretching our legs at moving about the vastness of our potential options.
Any choices we make will make it easy for some and darn hard for others to partake of the festivities. Location choices will also challenge who can or will take upon themselves to organize such a shin dig knowing the GC@CL set a damn high bar to start with.
Never the less, based on many hours of pondering accumulated by the RVM nation, the location of many STMs, and the experiences of GC@CL, I believe that the next location and moniker should be GC@CL II - The Adventure Continues

Has anyone thought of doing a traveling gathering, where those of us that can, will caravan to several places over say two weeks staying at each place for like two days so that those that can only take two days or can't travel that far or so can join in at the location closest to them, as an example go from say, AZ to Mid AK then to NC, or any three or four places with two day stops where each has a local welcoming host who plans an event for their state/spot, and those who are able too travel follow the caravan, after all, aren't we just as much about the journey as we are the location just a thought

Shara,
Give Jaymie a kiss on his forehead from me. I LOVE that baby smell and miss not having one to cuddle.
Congrats Gramie! Let the spoiling begin.

BTW we are in the picture below, a free coffee to the first one who figures out which couple is us.

You are the big fella, sitting on the little train!

Been there, done that on the Yooper. We have covered 46 of the 48 contiguous states. Two of the trips were our favorite. One was from San Diego, CA to Whidbey Island, WA. The other was to New England, across to Niagara, across the Canadian Southern area to Michigan, up to St. Ignace, around the Yooper and down the Western Side of the Yooper. We can say that the journey was the destination.
Don, you are retired, why wait? Make the trip and stop along the way to visit the Mall of America - just don't give Sandee any credit cards while visiting.
Like Steve and others, we never paid much attention to the amenities of a camp ground or their gathering halls. On this trip we will have to do that, but like Diane and Larry, we stay at military campgrounds when possible.
As Don stated, we are a vast expanse of STM's and not everyone can make every curiosity. That's okay, except for Possum - he needs to buck up and make them all. Others can just make what they can. And, as Shara stated we can meet on the rainbow for some mini-c's, but darn it, I'm NOT going to AK then back to NC.

rosequrtzl The neat thing about our eclectic collection of STMs is that I feel like our extended family has grown by about 20# and share the happiness around our newest addition.
Congratulations on such a fine looking grandson all set for the spoiling Shara.
