Hello:

One thing you might be able to do is rent your house in 2 week intervals as a vacation home. Of course that would depend on where you live, etc. There are companies that take care of the booking etc and it would just be a matter of having maid and maintenance service come in to clean and do repairs if needed. (maybe a trusted neighbor?)

If it helps to be around others who are in the same situation ... add me to your group of "frustrated and undecided". Sort of sounds like a signature line of a Dear Abby letter, eh?

Your tool collection is part of your soul. I have that feeling too. Advice that I've been getting is to send it all to an auction. Don't go to see it sold. Too painful; you may cry. Selling individually on e-Bay is a major pain. I tried that for a while with some antiques. Feels too much like work. With the bulk of antique furniture, the auction house deal was easier. Got some nice prices on some stuff and nearly gave away other stuff. It's a crap shoot governed by the buying crowd at the time.

For the shop tools and machinery, I've yet to make the selling decision. For sure, my wife will have to sedate me before the trucks come to haul it away.

I've assembled what I think is a reasonable tool load to haul along in our bus conversion. Been through the tool bay three times since we returned from our last long trip. Each time I rummage through the tools, I try to envision how "that" tool might be useful should an on-the-road fixin' be required. If I can't imagine how I'd need a tool, then reluctantly, it goes back to my workshop where someday it will suffer the fate of being gone forever to an auction. Man ... I'm getting shaky typing this. What if I make a bad decision and send a tool off to never be seen again and I someday need it? Now I'm feeling light-headed ... help!

Awww the apple vs pc vs Android debate. I was all for Apple, though didn't use them much.... but when they all went to that place over seas to be manufactured.... and the price didn't come down... pfft. Ya'll can keep them. There's also a misconception that they are immune to viruses. Hate to break it to you but they are susceptible but good luck finding an anti-virus. Just do a google search for "Known Apple computer viruses" and you fruity folks will be crapping little green apples. I get the draw... but every computer user, pc, mac, and android alike need to be informed.

Wanted to ask... any scrap-booking ladies/gents out there? Holy smokes... I just got a Fiskars Fuse Creativity die cutting/embossing/letter press machine. Thing weighs a ton but folds up to a compact package and wow is it smooth cutting and loads of fun.

On another note.... Got an advert from Lehman's today that featured an interesting sounding bbq sauce named. "Screaming Beaver" NOW THAT'S A NAME THAT CATCHES YOUR ATTENTION! lol Nearly spewed my coffee all over my computer. lol

Sylvia, it think there's another thread out there asking the same question about scrap-bookers. I don't do it myself, but there may be other mutants who do and will speak up.

Your new toy sounds like it's giving you much pleasure. It will be worth its weight if it does. Show us what it does, willya? Pic of a finished card, maybe?

Cheers!
Sue

Suspinz: Dabbler in Many Things

On edit: I found the thread. It's titled "Card Makers or Scrapbookers out there?" And there are several respondents, some scrappers and some spouses of same.

Good morning Wayne. Hope you and Earlene are having a great time. I'm sure she is enjoying having two of you around (assuming you and your brother are book ends). She must be in heaven....
We are having a grand time and today is the family reunion so I'll be able to rejuvenate my humorous and serious sides. Weather in the low to high 70's during the day and high 60's at night. Wish you were here.

There will always be debate. I think if you look at 99 and 9 tenths percent of electronic equipment, it is manufactured overseas, and most likely China. To bad, but that is the way it is now-a-days.

As for viruses, since 1980 or there about, I had a few viruses on PC's but the majority of those trying to get through were caught by Norton's Anti Virus. Now, on the MAC since 2007 I have never had a virus but Norton's has caught a few trying to get through. The most important thing is that no matter what system you have you need to have some type of anti-virus and firewall program. Just remember that no one product will be able to protect a computer from all viruses and intrusions, but they do a darn good job. The reason that PC's have more viruses than Apple products is because of the abundance of PC's in the world versus the Apple products. The virus writers most always have PC's so that is what they write to. Then there are the very dangerous ones. They are called "Script Kiddies," because they take a virus that has been designed to just penetrate and let it be know that someone was able to hack in and modify it to be destructive because they cannot write from scratch.

I retired from NASA as an Information Security Specialist, sometimes known as that Blankety blank computer security guy. NASA uses Norton's antivirus and it did a very good job. So my philosophy is that if it is good enough for 30,000+ civil servants and contractors, it's good enough for my computers. Most important, have something to protect you.

Hey Steve would you believe we never even heard of Comic Con before it started this week! There are people everywhere downtown in every type of costume you can dream of and several you probably can't. They say there are 150000 in town for this and I believe it. Every RV park that is any decent place to stay is booked along with most of the hotels.
Had some fool on TV last nite walkin around in his underwear covered only by a bra, garters and ripped black fish net stockings. Not sure who he was supposed to be and neither was the news anchor covering the story but it got him on TV. Geesh the idiots in this world!

Anyway we are back in Chula Vista but lose our site tonite and so far I haven't found another available. We may be boondocking on the beach tonite cause I can't move into our site for the tourney until tomorrow at 1pm. Oh well.... But then again there are worse places to boondock.

Oh this park we are leaving today would be perfect for a GC.....nice clubhouse and all. It's right on the bay next to the marina and three restaurants within easy walking distance. Beautiful park too but San Diego is probably too remote from everyone to be a good selection.

If your ever in San Diego and need a recommendation on where to stay then Chula Vista RV Park would definitely be my choice.

Hey STMs! Sure is quiet on the Rainbow! Sup?

On July 8th I issued an RVM CHALLENGE!!!!!

Here is another shameless repeat promo for the challenge.

Some of you have responded with suggestions on www.rvmutants.com
Steve and I thank you for that!

WE NEED MORE!!!!!!

Load us up, bombard us, bury with suggestions so I will shut the heck up!

Where shall we have Son of GC@CL?

If every RVM puts in one suggestion in the NEXT 2 WEEKS, we can maybe formulate a good selection of locations.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled Mutation!
Dave

And as a reminder of a reminder - bacon is allowed at all RVM Curiosities. NOT required to be eaten but should be nearby in case of emergency.
