Hey Les!
How far south are you coming on the WA coast? Maybe we can arrange a mini-C. I'm in far south WA state.

We are booked into Pioneer Trails in Anacortes Washington last week in August. Possum mentioned something about possibly getting down there as well.

Steve, since you asked--
Don's first 10 days home have been challenging for all of us. We've managed to survive several scary moments thanks to the help of his nurses and home health nursing services. His recovery is 2 steps forward, one step back at this point.
Yesterday we had a training session on this device
Mobility Research : LiteGait
but the training ended abruptly when he got nauseous. Don has leased the LiteGait to literally get him back on his feet. He is fighting SO hard to get his life back, but this is a marathon, not a sprint.
Funny story, tho -- Yesterday was Don and Arlene's 44th anniversary. The nurse and I took him to a Dr appt. As we are driving into town he tells us he wants to stop and order flowers for Arlene. So we get the flowers ordered to be delivered to the house and head home. I gave them my cell number in case the driver needs help finding the house.
As we are getting Don out of his van, my phone rings. The florist says they have another order of flowers for Arlene and the card says they are from Don also -- should he change the card on one of them? I chuckled and said "No, Arlene will get a good laugh out of the whole thing."
One of Don's good buddies, thinking Don would forget, sent red roses in Don's name. We are all enjoying the jokes about Arlene's 2 husbands -- both named Don.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. It's also taking a village to help Don get his life back. He has a great team of caregivers, family and friends all giving 110%. Guillian-Barre is such a baffling disease. Don has gone from having every muscle paralyzed to having about 30% of them now under his control.
The prognosis is for a full recovery if we don't kill him before he gets there. Thankfully his thinking is as sharp as ever. I have threatened to murder him on several occasions. He can be SO bossy.

Hmmm, that's 225 miles and we'd have to go thru Seattle. I'll see what I can arrange, but don't change any of your plans. I'm not sure I can get away, but I'll certainly try.

Barb - you, Arlene, friends etc combined with his tenacity and determination - coupled with the ability to lease such a grand mobility device all add up to better days ahead. I recall complaining early on during a physical recovery and the doctor responding - let me see if I've got this straight. You have good days and bad days. I cracked up laughing and moved on. Inch by inch. Step by step. Slowly I turned....
Many Ommms and positive charged vibes headed your way!

Barb... I am sure Don is gonna be ready for a break from you around then...LOL!
Might do your spirit good to get out and come back ready for more battle...
I have a friend with something like that, only made out of PVC pipe that she is learning to walk with. She is a social worker, chair bound due to at birth the oxygen was impeded causing brain damage in motor areas...but she's really bright. She takes botox shots in muscles to stop the naughty ones from spasiming and so her other muscles now are having a chance to strengthen... so at age 30 something, she is now starting to learn to walk! I am always amazed at the medical advances out there to help people!
