I guess I could capture them, take them with me to the IRV2 rally and get Elizabeth and Mary to train them!

I truly hope they have flown on before I return, just hope they don't decide to visit while I'm setting up there hunting.

Whooo hooo!!!!! I would dance for joy, but my dang knee .....

Is there a "sub-group" in RVMs for "STRVMs" (Sick, Twisted RVMs) Can I be in that, too?

Ok, my next goal is to talk DW into us getting this MH sooner than spring '15. Wonder would I be in the deer blind with the buzzards if I just went out and bought one next month? None of you know DW, so I'll tell you the answer: YES. But I bet I can push it to February. She thinks we have to get a FT renter in our mountain home in NM before we buy our MH. Pish posh and humbug, I say! "La, la, la, la live for today"

Ok, a little bio:

19 years with DW Kate. 4 sons who are all married to amazing women. Kate's younger son and his wife gave us our first grandchild in May. Yippee! Life-long camper. Introduced DW to camping 19 years ago with my 1979 Rockwood pop-up. She was hooked. And when we hit the road and travelled to distant points with our popups and TTs, she was hooked FOR LIFE, like me.

DW & I both work in the field of hospice and love it. Retirement for her around the corner...Dec. 2015. I play guitar (50 yrs or so), write music, have had a couple of bands. Enjoy reading and do a little writing, too. DW reads voraciously (twisted, huh?) and has been published over the years. Yes, we own a vacation home in the mountains of NM and have enjoyed it immensely. But, it's time to hit the road and get back into a RV.

Have had 2 pop-ups and 2 travel trailers over the years. Time for a MH. I'm thinking Class C, 'cause DW won't drive an A. I know that for a fact. And I know I'll need her to spell me on the road once in a while. So, Class C it is. I'm chomping at the bits to hit the road!!! It's that journey part that pulls me like a magnet .....

Oh, no fur babies yet. But we plan to rescue one before hitting the road. DW wants a shih Tzu and I guess that's fine. My sister had one for 15 years that she kept in a puppy cut. It was the cutest and calmest dog. If we can find one like that, it will be perfect for the RV!

Thanks, Marty. I look forward to getting acquainted with all you other sick, twisted mutants. Nothing like community!

Mel

Sounds like you've had some good travels lately. Your parks sound super.
Sue - keep yer head and feet about ya this trip. You and I will be in competition for most spills on the rainbow if we're not careful, actually rivaling snake and spider bit Dwayne if we're not careful. 😂

Being laid up following knee surgery (open fracture of my right knee cap ... don't ask ... it's embarrassing!), my entertainment is via my laptop. This thread has had me laughing til I cried. Literally. I happened on a post and decided to get on board and start from the beginning. whew. Y'all are a bunch of talkers! Suffice it to say that after reading through about page 17, I started jumping forward. It was like going through space in warp drive (which I hope to do some day).

My journey through this thread has helped me discover something about myself: I am definitely mutant. I first had hints of this as an 8 year-old when I wanted to spend the night alone on a mountain above the timberline after hiking there with my dad. (He was mutant, too, but tethered to earth by my non-mutant mom, so he made me hike back down with him.) It came up again at age 9 when I won a fight with the baddest bully in my school after he stole my best friend Charlene's winter coat and threw it in a toilet in the boys' room.

But the clincher was when my best college friend and I struck out in her VW Beetle with 2 sleeping bags, a box of wooden matches, 2 mega-pocket knives, a hatchet, a roll of foil and paper towels, paper plates, my guitar and an ice chest full of BACON, eggs, steaks, potatoes, carrots, apples and Dr. Peppers and took off over spring break ... with NO PLAN whatsoever. We camped in the open with no tent and nearly got shot by some cowboys 'cause we were on their dang deer lease! But, being mutant, I got us outta that one.

My mutant ways are leading me and DW to life on the road in a Class C MH. We want a walk-around bed (she'll kick me out when I start snoring), a booth (for storage and extra bed), sofa (extra bed), an over-cab bed (storage and privacy for sons & d-i-laws who may join us for a few days here and there) and a gener (we'll do some boondocking to calm my mutant soul). Don't need or want an outside kitchen. What's wrong with a fire ring and an ice chest on the picnic table? We've made a plan to tour the US and parts of Canada over the course of a year and other than that, we're open to the Universe. (Trip starts in late Feb. or early Mar, 2016, after DW retires.)

My happiest times are: 1) on the road with or in whatever RV we have at the time 2) set up in a beautiful campsite and 3) meeting others who embrace the RV life. Well, and playing music of the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s for folks in nursing, assisted living and retirement homes. I get them singing along and their joyful response brings tears to my eyes! I absolutely love making those folks smile. Had a band in college, toured, recorded, etc. Good times, for sure. But nothing like singing "South of the Border" and "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree" with the 80 & 90 yr olds in the nursing homes who've often been forgotten by their families.

Ok, I've been WAY too long-winded here; but remember, I'm bored as hell with my knee immobilized and nothing but time on my hands! And if you've read all the way to "here" you only have yourself to blame.

Peace, love and pass the understanding around ... the world sure needs more of it!

Melanie "Mel"

Well hello Mel..... Welcome.... Back later... Suppertime.....
