As it is my birFday, Nola found a GEM in the freezer, in the form of MN bluegill sunfish fillets! (Can y'all say "OM-NOM"?)
With that, there is a bunch of sweet potato fries. (A cuke/tomato salad as a prelude).

If memory serves (Hah! Since when?), you'll be better off sticking to wine. Something in beer (not the hops) ... Barley? Not sure about things like rum, though.

Sort of a corollary: Have you read Grain Brain?

What a lovely friend to have! I hope her disposition is as sweet as her face. Surely she won't be 2-faced!

Do I hear the pitter patter of little pebbles? Or is that little grains of sand?

BTW, oh Grand Poobah, happy birthday! Sorry I'm late to the party, but I see you've had a very good day. I wish you many more of same.

Cheers!

Spectacular! Just out of interest, what is her wheel configuration? I can't see all the wheels to count.

DH, btw, is retired from London Transport. Among other things, at one time he was buying trains for the Underground and once flew to Brazil to purchase wheels. See? Train folks here! C'mon in!

Cheers!
Sue

Oh yes there is! Bob (Teffy) is older.

Thank you Sue! I had a grand BD.
We hope the genetics of Rocky and Alice will work in our favor. They both have a solid background and seem stable enough to provide a firm parental foundation. Keeping an eye on GCGW is on our minds, however!

Thanks again all. Still no word on Annies dad and he is still in ICU. Annie is not doing well as I have said - she is a big daddy's girl. He is on a ventilator.

Keep the Ommms flowing and thanks for all of your kindness. We greatly appreciate it.

Very interesting! But only a 120 gallon gas tank? What sorta mpg does she get? And will she run on unleaded or do they have to get special additives for her?

Thanks for today's history lesson. I'll have to come check it out next fall when I head west again.
If you look at the info on the right of the wiki page... it appears the train was converted to diesel in 2010.

I think Alice might be a slut.
Slate?
Floozy is a nicer word....if you meant the other... doesn't she stay put? I wondered what would happen if you had to stop quickly. You would now have 2 flying rockies in the Motorhome! ( and no bull...winkles)

Barb,

The McKeen is a motorcar (a motorised passenger car). It now has an 8 cylinder Cat diesel motor. It only gets 6 to 10 days of operation each year. We refuel only about once a year. Today we made 9 trips of about 3 1/2 miles each.

Fuel milage on our two motorcars (the other is a 1926 Edwards motor car from the Tucson, Cornelia and Gila Bend) is not of great concern.

The steam train uses a couple of hundred gallons a day. Fortunately, it burns donated motor oil and donated aviation fuel. At about 10 miles per hour I like to remind people that we are burning jet fuel.

Omms to Annie's Mom and to all the others needing them.

Thanks for the pics Russ and the Ommms to Annies dad etc.

Found this pic in Flickr - you can really see difference in "train" and motorcar .... elegant in its complex simplicity methinks...
