Smile Introspective Moment

Wayne and Earlene were again great hosts in showing us around San Antonio, the River Walk and then taking us out to Lackland AFB where I spent 6 weeks, starting June 6, 1973, in USAF basic training. My 6 year enlistment in the USAF was critical in my life and without it I don't know where I would be today.

Visiting LAFB was something I had longed to do and with Wayne's retired military credentials it was done without lots of paperwork seeking permission without a sponsor. Our visit to LAFB was too short but as I sit here I find it more significant than I was thinking it would be.

It didn't matter that I couldn't recognize any of the landmarks. It just mattered that I could be back to a place that means so much to me. Both of my parents went there and so had I. I can't remember many specifics but I remember the need to do well. I conquered my fears of the big world being away from home for the first time. It lead to experiences I couldn't have imagined coming from a small farm community in north, central IL.

Thank you Wayne and Earlene for helping me visit LAFB.

Oh that you should see this from your respective blinds! In the flesh and during the season.
Sue - tell Martin the admission was 15 per - and I will collect at CL in April...

Don,
It was just as exciting for us seeing you drool at seing those big air planes.

Sandee, get him a model F4 to put together. It will keep him busy for hours and you can go shopping at the jewelry store.

To the both of you, it was our pleasure. We need to do it again sometime.

Fellow mutants I have a small but nagging little problem. It seems my MotoSAT satellite for TV reception has bit the dust, so for you that have rooftop systems, what are you using ?

Cheers !!!!

Currently using park cable because my Dish / Winegard Toadtrip is blocked from delivering signal to either of my 2, 211k receivers by oak trees. It's a blessing. And, a curse.

I saw your thread last night Jeff. Sorry to hear of your loss. I know you had her on life support back at the GC@CL.

Yeah it was on life support, but since its way old technology, it really needs changing out. My system was only one gun, all the new systems are three guns, I wouldn't mind finding a good used system, and if anyone knows a mobile service here in Phoenix that is worth their salt. I'm still searching for opinions.

Cheers !!!!

It's a bit foggy here in Rockport this morning. We are slowly preparing to roll on down the rainbow to Pharr.

We did our prep yesterday and don't have much to do so we'll slow roll it. Don't want to get in a hurry and strain anything.

Looking forward to learning a new area and a little sad to leave an area we were just getting accustomed to. There was still plenty to explore here so a return visit is on our list.

Well off to the salt mines... Rez and Dieselbreath - have a great mini-C! We'll check back later.
