It's been one of those days. Started out with a text and call with Dwayne. The St Patrick's Day parade. A trip to Walmart. Lunch. A little departure prep and an afternoon nap. It's threatened to rain off and on today but so far it's just been cloudy. The wind is beginning to pick up and the threat continues. I'm sitting at the picnic table daring it to do so! Take that rain.

So the local weather man reported there has been just under 9 inches rain here this year. The norm is below 3 inches. I can only imagine how nice it would be here with 6 inches less rain. I've groused about it but it has still been a great escape. Annie has taken the worst of it with allergies but she isn't alone. The "locals" and repeat Winter Texas have all mentioned the change in the area weather pattern and allergies this year.

We have all been more than happy to have not been in Boston or other northern climes where snow has fallen beyond or near record levels.

When I spoke to the park office at Tom Sawyer yesterday they were awaiting a flood on the Mighty M. We reserved a couple nights there overlooking the river when we pull out of Catherine's Landing anyway. Did I mention we're mutants. The river will subside and the rainbow will be bright when we arrive!

So let's all raise a mutant cheer for St. Patty and for making the best of every situation. Even amidst a wee bit o grousing. Can I get and Oh Yeah!

And now for something completely different... I saw Earlenes friend today...

This is a nice rig, for sure, and reasonably priced. We are not in a hurry. We're willing to wait until the right one jumps out at us. As mostly weekenders, it won't (Lord willing) be our last rig, and we like our short gasser pretty well for now.

Dream rig:

40'+/-, TAG (I can dream), bath and a half (Mary can dream), newer electronics (Mary can work from "home"), full sized washer and dryer (Mary again), king sized bed and the rest of the stuff is negotiable. That'll have to wait for the end of my working days.

Reality check:

40'+/-, decent sized bathroom, washer and dryer (she's not budging on this), decent electronics, queen sized bed, and the rest is negotiable. Right now, we want to stay under 100K.

I think I'm ill, though. I saw a really cool set of copper-colored rope lights and almost hit one-click ordering.

Hi Elizabeth...
Ohhh... Ohhh... Copper Colored Rope Lights!!! Go back... get them - get enough to chain around that 40 footer of the future. 100 feet or so... you will be glad you did!

Di just emailed some info on the RV Mutants GC email group re: the RV Mutant Mutated Olympics. She has a well organized starter list of possible events. COINCIDENTLY - today I made another dive into this as well. I picked up 8 small Flexi Road Cones and some rings to toss at them. Also purchased the 3 Official RVM Wham-O Frisbees for the closest to the pin and other toss events.

There are water balloons for the water Ballon toss - similar to egg toss but no yolk.

I have begun to gather some RVM Trivia Questions and have a prize for the winner.

The ducks are in - Tim has the pond and there are prizes for a few lucky duck pickers. Nostril picking not allowed Wayne.

It's coming together and as Di said in her email - the events will geared for wobbly mutants - slow mutants and everyone should be able to get in on the action.

Send ideas for Mutant Olympic Games to the RVM GC email group.

Thanks mutants. The Grand Poobah and the Potentate are in nearly constant communication and our excitement level is growing exponentially.

Who knows what lurks beneath the Kimono? What will the grass skirts reveal? Who will be the opening act for the Paul Byrd Band?

I am through cajoling folks to join in or join us. Those who can't or won't make it can review the GC1.2 Redux Closing Presentation soon enough. It's going to be so much fun that many should consult their doctor before attending and be sure to call your doctor if your smile lasts more than 4 hours.

Ha Steve! While at CW today we over heard a couple mention that they were so glad to be back home from the RGV. Their stories mirror yours with the rain and wind. They had been at McAllen!

X2 Steve.
We will have a grand time at Catherines Landing, complete with Mutant Olympics, Luau party and dance, to say nuthin of the amazing food, comaradirie, laughs, hugs, campfires, kayaking, fishing, and much more.
The Opening of the Kimono stands alone as the only mystery short of Murder at Rope Light Gulch!
Come join the party!

And...w're back playing catch-up again...

And look at all the important stuff I missed.

Like others, I have been with this thread from the first day or so, speedy catchup isn't required. I just can't get to it every night, so I have to play catchup every few days. I am a fast reader though. In HS I was reading around 1200-1500 words a minute with good comprehension and retainage.

I'm a little slower now - lack of practice, but I can still burn through a paperback in a day or two if I have the time.

Speaking of comprehension - did someone say duck 'pickers' or duck 'pluckers' earlier? Wasn't that a Mason Williams "Them" song?

I was pondering about those "bacon bowls" mentioned a day or so ago- nothing on that box says they contain ANY bacon...false advertising I say...

One of Bob's favorite pet peeves is when people describe something( bacon) as Crispy ... crisp is already an adjective and he claims it doesn't need the y. That and he compulsively corrects errant apostrophes. I have decided to let him at al that... at least he isn't picking on my bigger faults when he is obsessed with all the grammar mistakes around...LOL!

Today's past reading of Mutant history has been one of teary eyes. How is it that I can shed tears for a person that passed away before I even knew they existed? Dunner sounded like a very cool mutant and it makes me want to go plant a tree in his honor. I will have to reflect on that. Then as my reading continues I find out the dogpatch lost his mother too. This brought back so many memories of my own mother who passed away from breast cancer over 25 years ago and those special hospice nurses who were such a help during this time. It is a wonder how people from all backgrounds can come together and care and share with each other and lift each other up. You guys are special. I hope you know that.

Barb chose a very twisted mutant Harry Lauder's walking stick bush to plant in his honor... I am waiting for it to get a little warmer out to plant it in my yard to honor our Mutant Guardian Angel... Dunner.

Deb and Dale - geocacher... is this thread listed on the geocach apps?

All I can tell you is that we are united in our diversity and glad you found us. Some are right - some are left. Some are vocal and some are quiet. All are mutants and even on those rare occasions when things go a little sideways - we are all here for one another.

I wonder all the time where some mutants got off to and why. They have the spirit of the RVMdom with them - and the healing Omms and wishes for safe journeys from all of us who post up daily.

So here's to all 107 RVMs.
Cheers!

Time to call it a day.
Marty... I know you and Bob refer to you more properly (for lack of a better word) as Martha. Is that because Mart is already a noun and doesn't need a "y" at the end...

So I leave you this day with this...
