Beautiful flowers blooming there in Texas. None here so far.
Love to dine vicariously through all these fine pictures. Yum!
Good thing Spring is starting today as I am ready for warmer days, and anxious to see what will sprout and bloom here. Since we moved here at the end of June, we have no idea what early flowers are here.
Happy Spring!

Where were you before IL, Judy? I've moved around enough to know that uncertainty too, as many mutants have.
I've been told, too, when you buy a house, not to do much with the yard & garden for a year. That way you avoid destroying what might be pleasant surprises a previous owner has planted. (Hard advice for a green thumb to heed!)
Crocus or snowdrops yet? Hellebores or other exotics? There might be some tiny iris, too.
Keep us posted, will you? Northern IL is different from Central by at least one zone, maybe 11/2.
ON EDIT: Oops! Faulty assumption on my part. I had no idea Woodlawn is south of us. More along the lines of Southern IL. You'll have flowers before we will, by at least one zone, or maybe only 1/2 a zone. Enjoy!

Judy... it will be like Christmas everyday!
When we moved in here it was July, and the lady worked for a major greenhouse plus bred her own iris' so I had no idea what was here other than the summer perennials. When winter was over and spring bulbs etc. started coming up, It was Christmas to me everyday! I had to make a graph chart of everything when it came up so I'd know what was here...
The house had sat empty for a year or 2 and the weeds had really taken over... so I really needed to be careful when I weeded not to pull out the flowers , etc. she had planted.

Marty, I'm taking home some of my tomato and pepper plants, 3 of which came from home in November. What a hoot! I'd have started new ones too, but didn't bring the seeds. (Not buying more!)
I have a cucumber (one only!) with female flowers on it to take, one cotton plant in bloom (2 bolls already set), and assorted herbs. The rest will have to be given away or abandoned. I'd like to take the Japanese eggplant, but don't know if it will transplant.
So, have you harvested your duck egg yet? Fried, scrambled, or over easy? Was mama possessive? I remember chicken beaks, and those are just as hard but pointier!

Over easy! but... you don't have to worry as much about mama as you do papa with ducks... she doesn't usually sit on them until she has a whole clutch ready to go. Papa will worry your pant legs when you go to collect....

Here for now... Gone then Back again on Tuesday....
Preparing for a spring road trip.
Just me and the grand daughters....
Both are 5yo for this month.
Going to my mothers, about 3 hour drive.
Our first time taking a road trip.......
Getting activity kits together for them, and for the brothers we are leaving behind.
Gotta have activities for going and coming.
Gave them both digital cameras, so those will be activities too.
Car bingo, car scavenger hunts, new i can read books, foam craft decorating their own koozie for water bottles.
New journals and pens, activity puzzle books
each will have a lap tray and their bags hang from headrest, making them easy to get to without dropping on the floor
Try to make it as self sufficient as i can since i am only adult and am driving..... Larry is going to stay and babysit the dogs...
Yes I did this for my sons as well.... But they say they dont remember....
Anyway... Sun is out for now.....
Diane toftSFM#64....... (The Original Fast Talking Sliding Finger Mutant) and is retired, duh!

Hey Sue,
Did you ever get those melon seeds to bear fruit? Dunner got 4 small one, but he picked them much too early and they weren't ripe. I never found any melons in the stores last year. Maybe this year?? If anyone ever sees an oddly yellow cantaloupe, buy IT!!! They are Kandy Lemon Drop melons and are DELICIOUS!

Hey Steve and Mary Ann,
I went by the Strawberry Stand on Wed, but they had quit selling for the season and are closing tomorrow until next year. It must be time to leave Florida.

Di, can I be your granddaughter, too? You are the grandmother every kid should have -- even us big kids.
